Confused? maybe so.
I had a 4 year old called Greg whose grandma had given too much Red cordial running amok when I posted that [trying unsuccessfully to hid away on the PC to get some piece and quite]...explains why I was calling Chris Kinman. Greg by mistake.
As for the Warriors pickups
I was looking through some of the builds some people have done from a few years back, and saw that somebody had built several PB kits, some with standard pickup's that came with the kit, and others they referred to as Warrior pickup's.......since Kinmans Warriors have only just become available, I figured it can't be them, it must be one of the other pickups available as optional....my bad.:o
all good Tweaky easy mistake.
So it must be about time you ordered a kit to build !
Not too sure I recall Warrior pickups mentioned before on the forum, Wilkinson perhaps. But since I love Kinman pickups it was good to get a heads up on what Chris is up to with the Warriors.
Perhaps a good time to get yourself a LP junior with some of those Warrior pickups Tweaky, then you have an excuse to lock yourself away from the hyper four year old!
I'll try and find the post mentioning the Warriors and edit this post [ first thing I did when joining the forum was go back through the archives of builds to see what was possible, it's not visible to none forum members]
Actually the LP Junior was what I was looking at doing originally, but I see it's not offered at least ATM, that's why I questioned about certain kits no longer being available.
Just a general question.
I had, prior to finding PB kits [same day actually], ordered a Strat body with a tiger maple top from another Aus based kit neck/body parts....I received it today.....sure it is topped with Tiger maple, but the veneer is so thin [around .75mm] I've got my trepidations regarding sanding it to any great lengths to get a great finish....it's probably sanded fine enough for staining ATM....but I can see where it's going to have problems.[EDIT: After just having a good look at this none PB body [I got it by post today just prior to going to work], I see it has bigger problems than transfer thin veneer, the tremolo routing is at least 10-15mm askew of centre to the right.
Live an learn....guess I now know who NOT to deal with again.
Since this not a PB sourced body I can only go by what I read at this forum.
Could somebody please tell me what the general thickness is of the figured maple ply applied to the top of PB guitars is generally?
Hi Tweaky,
The Pit Bull kits have very thin veneers, I believe it is a cost saving measure instead of going for a full 6mm top.
OK, I sort of thought this might be the case, no big deal, as would be my wont, I've already bitten the bullet and order 3 PB kit's only the ES1g I believe has the maple veneer.
I also ordered the ES-3 and YB-4 bass kit, plus everything Dingobass offers apart from the green colour...Why no Blue offered?
This should be interesting to test the gear sent as standard with the kits against the so called "Real McCoy" of the Fender/Gibson's I have.
First thing I'll do is measure everything with each kit to find the tolerances, and if anything has a major problem, like the tremolo routing in the body I got in the post from elsewhere ....I'm not expecting any problems, it seems from forum members posts, PB's quality control is on top of things.:D
Hi Tweaky
There is a Bondi Blue....
