Our 4D buddy Rozza would be impressed with the 3 holes cut through the body

That is some nice grain! Looks awesome mate
Immense grain and colour mate.
quick update. Don't think i can build a wooden pick guard the veneer is to thin and wont work as a scratch plate but i will keep looking to see if there are other options. Finally got my pickups and found that the single coil is to big (not by much) to fit in the hole any ideas on how to fix this can i just file it down. also just steel wooled and but another coat of stain on.
Hi Ben
I was gonna do veneer pickguards on my build also, but where I live I could not find veneer wide enought or cheap enough to make them (unless I'd wanna use just one piece of plywood about 3mm thick. But in my googling on the subject I found a youtube video where they make these by gluing three veneers together. They glue them so that the grain in the middle one goes across compared to the other two. When the glue is applied the three veneers are clamped using two pieces of plywood one on both sides. The plywood keeps them from warping as does the across grain placing. The veneer by itself is thin and when glue is applied it gets wet and warps. It needs to have a pair of equal thick veneer piece to prevent that.
Barge succeeded to glue his on a plastic guard but on the net there were many who tried and failed - I don't know the variables enough and haven't had a chance to try myself. 3 x 0,8mm would be 2,4mm plus the glue so this could be thick enough to use. Too bad I can't post the youtube link here cause I'm writing this on my phone...
My plan to make veneer pickguards from flame maple veneer would have cost me about 120 AUS $ so decided to skip that one... Maybe if I win the lottery....
