She does make a noise, only one of the pots is a bit dodgey..
Thing is, the brief is to retain as much of the original gear as possible.
The idea is to restore, not rebuild.... Its a very fine line and one that is easily crossed...
The fun bit will be creating a new headstock logo for the beast that looks like it has some age to it :)

A few passes through the drum sander and BOOM! She is nice and flat :)
-
Oh yes, nice and flat! Much better to the eye!
What wood is it DB? I like the grain in it!
-
My guess is its Alder, feels like it and the dust tastes like it :)

nice one DB that drum sander is magic. It not only flattens the body it also takes off all that old stain. Kills two birds with one drum sander !
Will you be replicating thestain colour ?
Be hard to restore any of the old pots/switches, might be worth getting some new vintage pots and switch
-
You could just say that they cleaned up real nice DB ;)
-
mmm... drum sander goodness

Yhep... Love my drum sander, saves me lots of time..
With the pots, I hope I can track down the originals.... Could be next weeks challenge.

that will be a challenge finding original pots, switch and output jack. Is the owner likely to open up the control cavity after the work is done ?
