If I can make a suggestion:
I think you might want to put the tuners on it before going further and see if you still like what it looks like? You don't want to go through all the effort of finishing the neck and then hating it. Especially as you currently have doubts...
Good advice Gav.
Fitted tuners (upside down) and content. The new owner is happy as, but I think im just peeved with myself more that it wasnt what was planned.
With the custom trussrod cover thats coming will look pretty good
I'm not sure that you will be doing any favours in the tuning department by installing the tuners upside down. My understanding is that this will lead to the guitar going out of tune very quickly....not really what you'd want....
The only danger if we consider them with the force from the string at full tension is that the pole will move a bit further away from the gear inside the tuner - and that's only providing that there is any amount of pole movement (which I hope there wouldn't be considering their function)
Hey Tony, to me I think the neck is quite "savable" and if done with a piece of scrap pine, then capped with veneer say a tapered or arty style on the front with the same on the back with a blended in around the edge.. could be made a feature to enhance.. as the area involved is not load bearing.. just a thought matey..
Bit like the "rough pickie" Attachment 499
Hi Tony I will be back in the office later this afternoon and will have a oil what I've got in stock.

Hi Adam
How did you go?
from my experience Tony I've mixed and matched quite a few necks on different bodies and they generally all fit pretty well.
Think if Ads sends any number neck its as much of a gamble of fitting as trying to match the number neck
