Sweet. Almost looks like a gold top.
Back again after a visit from the folks.. ruled-out the man-cave for nearly 4 weeks but got some great soldering tips and assistance from the old man so I could finally finish off my 'Disaster-caster'.
Taped up the fretboard and levelled the frets. Small change in plan, I've since placed a custom order for a set-neck double cut mahogany LP Jnr and this axe will receive the Kluson tuning peg upgrade so back to stock kit pegs for this one.
Drilled screw holes for the tuning pegs, put the posts for bridge and tail into the body (with earth wire to bridge) then onto glueing the neck into place.
This is the first set-neck I have ever attempted, had some fun cleaning up the excess glue but all into place nicely. Lined up perfectly and nice and square (with strings/bridge/pups etc).
looking sweet Andrew, you are on the home stretch now.
Is the tele a PBG build ?
Nah, the Tele is a real 'Frankencaster', it was originally a black MIM that was in a very poor state but has been rebuilt like the 'Bionic Man'.....it actually was the project that helped me discover PBG (whilst searching for guitar parts and forums for advise) and got me into the whole guitar kit hobby thing (tip, its easier to start from a new kit than go through the pain of stripping/restoring an old guitar...)
Ok, headstock complete. Neck has glued in nicely. Drilled screw holes for pups. Switch wiring on the agenda for this evening..
(excuse the grainy pictures, these were taken from [Android phone] and uploaded via Forum Runner app)

looking sweet Andrew, think the cream surrounds work ok with the gold top, but black switch and control cover may look better on the mahogany. If you haven't pre-inserted the switch wiring you will have to remove the pickups to do that. I have had to remove them too forgetting to do this. Also did you remember the earth wire to control cavity from the bridge post ?
Cheers. Yes, agree with the black control covers. Fortunately I remembered to install the earth wire but will have to remove pups for the wiring exercise. Is it worth shielding this style guitar?
Hi Andrew,
yes its worth shielding the cavities, the control cavity is worth doing and if you have enough copper tape shield the back of the cover and the switch and pup cavities
Almost there (finally)...
Wiring complete, ran out of shielding for the control cavity but no noise when tested.

Only need to screw in the jack plate, shoulder strap buttons and give it a set up.
Debating if I should install the pickguard. I'll sleep on this...

Must say I'm impressed with the quality of this Pit Bull kit.
That's the final build for this year, now waiting for my double cut junior order...
Nice Andrew .
