Adam's version of 'briefly' is longer than ya think DB.... You should already know that by now, but do a Baritone LP so I can steal it haha!!!!!! :P :D

sounds like an orsome plan DB the 3 axes you have in mind. Can't wait to see progress on the build diaries.
Any word on arrival date for aramanthine DB ?

Today I began preparing the blanks for the Baritone Jaguar.
First thing after roughing the sizes needed is to plane a flat surface onto one face.
I do this so that I can get an even thickness and a dead flat blank when I run them through the drum sander.

When I have got this done,it is over to the drum sander loaded with a 60 grit belt.

Next up I check to see how well the two edges fit together, and if they need any adjustments I sand them with my sanding beam with 80 grit self adhesive paper attached.

looking good DB, that slab has got some nice grain.
Any clues to which salvage yard you found this slab ? I was going to check out some near my work

The reason I have got the blanks set this way is to accommodate the shape of the body.
I was hoping to get this beast out of a single piece, but there was a minor fault in the timber that I thought best to cut out, hence a two piece body.

Once it is ready I glue and clamp the two pieces.
You will notice that I have the clamps on both faces. This is ensure that the join has even pressure all round.
If you don't do this you run the risk of one face developing an open joint.... Been there, done that!
Time for a ciggie, coffee and post progress :D

Hey Woks, I scored this chunk of tree at Kelmscott.
Been there a hundred times and this is the first time I have seen anything thick enough!
-
sweet DB, Jaguar shape looking great. Looks like that damn piano has gone and you have done some rearranging in the man cave.
sure it's all about timing finding a slab of wood thick enough at a salvage yard. Thanks for the tips, might call a few and tell them to put aside any slabs of wood 45mm or thicker
-
HA HA HA! yep, it went back to it's owner a few days after your last visit... Nice to have some more room in the Cave, that's for sure!
-
DB did you trace a PBG Jaguar body to get the pencilled line or have you got a template or print of the body shape.
Sounds good the piano gone you can fit 2 more spectators in the man cave or a bigger esky ! haha

I got hold of a plan from ALS in Brisvegas.
Esky?..... Beer fridge is more like it :)
Actually, I will most probably be able to fit a saw bench in now, once I have done some more re arranging....
