Yes, I tried to plan well! At least I tested the loaded guard before doing the final coats.
In Australia we have a shorter expression - "s@#t happens".:p

Just one more thing I didn't know came from Australia. If I translate that to Spanish it sounds messy ;-)
I have managed to pick up (!?) a set of Benson Custom Gypsy St neck and bridge pickups from PBG with black covers. They sound good with a tap test! :p
Nice score! Those should be great pickups. The will certainly look good with those beveled magnets ;-)
Finally, some nice weather! 25 degrees and low humidity.
So, I have sprayed the body with 3 quick coats (horizontal, vertical, horizontal) of Polycraft acrylic primer/filler.
Sanded the filler with 600 g wet and dry. Sprayed another 3 quick coats, let dry, and sanded with 1200 g w&d. It was looking flat!
Then sprayed the Polycraft Candy Red Pearl - 3 lots of 3 quick coats (horizontal, vertical, horizontal) spaced 20 minutes apart. It looks like there is a bit of orange peeling - but not too bad.
Looking good!

OMG are you saying that Forest Gump is Australian too?!?
I had decided that the body needed one more coat of the candy red pearl, but I had to purchase another can. All was going well with spraying until the can decided to spit out some big blobs of paint.
So, I have purchased another can! I gave the body a 1200 g block sand and resprayed another set of 3 coats. This spray-can behaved itself!
