1st practice has given me some confidence. The paper isn’t dead flat so it looks more wobbly than it is.
The lazy Susan idea was a great one, it’s really quite easy to keep a consistent distance when the guitar spins freely

I took the plunge and had a go at a burst!
It’s not perfect but I think it’s much better than the imperfections it hides! I think I’m happy I took the risk...

You might want to think about doing a bit more bursting round the neck join once it's glued in. That means you can fill any gaps around the joint and spray over in black for a seamless look.

Yeah I’ll bear that in mind about the join. Bursting seems like a good way to cover up all sorts of stuff ups!

It certainly is a daunting task, however just ensure all your measurements are right before glueing. There are heaps of threads on here with advice for setting a neck, so grab a few cups of coffee and have a good read on what to measure and what to look out for prior to doing so. I know @Simon Barden has written a couple of lengthy posts on it and he explains it really well.Quote:

Looks really good. Once all the hardware etc is on you won't notice any minor inconsistencies.
Agreed, even as the clear coats go on it feels like it’s blending better, really happy with how this is shaping up...
