Still not as dark as my orange necked "Eric Johnson" strat!
Those cool staggered height Kluson style tuners eradicate the need for string trees 😊

You did a great job shaping that headstock. It's equal parts tele-inspired and original at the same time!
Thanks trv. Yeah I wanted to add a slightly 'curvier' aspect without deviating far from the original idea.
cheers, Mark.
The end is nigh.
Last remaining items finally arrived: brass nut, string through ferrule and the Tonerider bridge pickup.

cheers, Mark.
nice going king casey, pleasure to watch build progress
regards
Guv
Thanks Guv, I have since noted that between the Tonerider Pickup and Wilkinson bridge...neither include the mounting screws/springs. Doh!!
cheers, Mark.
Edit: Further exploration of the Tonerider box revealed

Normal programs returned to schedule...phew!
Well the end has arrived. My first Pitbull kit is completed.
Thanks to the many folks that have posted build diaries that made the process so much easier.
Even though some steps required re-doing, I have certainly learned a great deal.
Yep, even the decal had to be re-done.

I'll try to get some better shots when this Melbourne wintery blast has subsided.

All Hail the King! That is gorgeous Mark, wonderful work.
Thanks Frank..and for your many inspirational 'experimentations'.
Always entertaining (as attempting such is well beyond my capabilities).
cheers, Mark.
Very nice. Well done.
Thanks Simon. I've picked a colour that is inherently difficult to photograph accurately.
FWIW It plays pretty good. I would recommend building the kit to the playable stage and then do the finish.
cheers, Mark.
Thanks Fretworn.
Here's another attempt

Very nice :)
Hi Mark, that turned out looking really nice. Any chance of a sound demo video for everyone to hear it too?
Thanks Blinddrew and Waz.
I'm going to have a go at doing a video which will involve another learning curve.
Probably no epic as I'm not a professional guitar player.
cheers, Mark.
Testing testing

Cheers, Mark.
Sounds sweet! ... and the difference between you and I is you can play while I'm a very VERY late starting novice :-(
Thanks cork..I gave up playing the guitar around 16 and only took it up again last year.
Therefore it shouldn't take you long to get up to speed.
cheers, Mark.
Hehe Those are my 'work' shoes.
cheers, Mark.
Looks great, well done! A slightly different take on the Tele strat mashup to mine.
Very nice!
Really cool vibes Mark. Sounds and looks great.
Many thanks chaps.
Time to hit the shed.
cheers, Mark.
Well time has certainly passed and I have done some slight modification.
Wasn't happy with the bridge location. I was within intonation, but set too far forwards which meant a severe angle for the low E string.
Decided to relocate the bridge 5mm further back.
Upgraded the potentiometers and installed an orange drop capacitor that was laying around.
Relocated the volume and tone, and installed the 'Gibson' style pickup selector.
edit: Oh, and made a different scratch-plate.

cheers, Mark.
Oh yeah. Furthermore, I added an 'asymetric' neck plate, and 'Grant neverwas' transitional neck mod.

cheers, Mark.
For your first build that is awesome. You must be chuffed as punch with that.

I think that will be one of my investments in the future is a decent amp. I only have a pig nose, I guess as I知 learning it will do for now. I have heard you get a decent amp and it can make most average guitars sound awesome.

The amp isn't regarded as terribly spectacular (it's a Vox Pathfinder 10) but it certainly
performs well enough to get a decent sound happening.
Also probably helps that the bridge pickup is a Tonerider Hot Classic.
cheers, Mark.
Should start uploading a 'job-lot' of ten thumbed tone deaf talentless noise pollution.

I'm using it set to Tonerider bridge pickup throughout.
cheers, Mark.
Sounds good, I did download JustinGuitarNoteTrainer I知 enjoying it. Thanks

Thanks Glynn. It highlights how strange my brain works.
I spent the whole day on learning just the 'B' string with 'find the note'
On day 2 I did the same with 'G' string..
When I revisited the 'B' string I discovered that 'G' string had erased my memory of it.
Back to the drawing board.
cheers, Mark.
After some careful (rash) decision, I've had a rethink of the scratch plate.
This leaves me with enough spare hardware for another Tele.
As I usually trial them out of MDF, and been concerned with longevity...
I have searched for ways to seal/prime it.
This was the result...
Attachment 32186
The aim is to avoid water-based primer as water has an adverse effect on MDF.
I'll see how it goes and perhaps use it instead of a spray type primer on guitar bodies later.
cheers, Mark
FWIW, just straight shellac works great for sealing MDF.
Get some unwaxed shellac flakes and mix a 1-pound cut (1:1 ratio - eg 100g flakes to 100ml methylated spirits).
You can mix up as little or as much as you want/need.
