Looks good Andy. Just wondering if that is a reflection beside lower F hole near controls?

Thanks guys, I'm really taking my time with this one. Frankenwashie's fret work has made me up my game.
Yeah Waz, thats the kitchen window reflection
Thats looks really nice, the blue has come up a treat
GÂ’day Andy,
Do you have an update on this build?
Thanks Tony. I'm embarrassed to say I have not moved further on this build yet.
I've been prototyping winding PAF's on my other semi-hollow and I think I've got a good recipe for this one. but I still have to wind them.
Interestingly the Tru-oil finish has yellowed a bit so I'll have to scrape the binding.
Binding cleaned and neck glued! Grovers look good too!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...3185f91399.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1f4bebb417.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...bf1840b64f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...1b4c556aa0.jpg

Can't wait to hear this thing crank...
This is looking great!
Looking good! Look forward to final pics.
Did you wind those pickups Andy?
Oh yeah baby! This thing is gonna rock
Thanks guys. I'm excited too, I was really surprised as to how comfortable the neck feels and how accessible the high frets are. Most likely to the awesome fretboard that FW made for me!
I've got a bit of stuff to do yet. I only get snippets of time but the deadline is to get this finished well before Easter.
@Mcreed. yes, I wound those humbuckers. since I've started winding - I have a new found respect for those other pick up winders and fully understand why the cost so much per pick up - especially humbuckers!
The one thing I regret not doing on my PRS-1TS, was attempting a spoon carve between the lower horn and the neck.Quote:

The neck feels great and plays great, but playing in B up that end is difficult reaching the highest notes. I only do a few songs in B, and I don't do a whole lot that far up, but it' bugs me not being to do it freely.
Doing a spoon carve (ala: PRS) with the binding there, would present a slight challenge, but I think my plan would have worked had I thought to carry it out before starting the finish.
You don't need to worry about me becoming a competitor when you start your own boutique pickup company!Quote:

I'm quite sure I won't take that leap!
Gorgeous! I had to check out your latest build after you commented on mine. Amazing work.
Yep its TO. which is funny as its ambered up a bit which has made the blue look different shades of blue and bluey green depending on how you look at it.
Hi Andy,
I just found this thread and your guitar looks amazing. I know it's been awhile since you finished this, but I was wondering if you could answer a couple questions:
Did you sand back the Timbermate until you saw bare wood, or just enough to smooth it out?
Did you sand between coats of stain?
If so, do you remember what grit you sanded with?
Hi Joe,
Sorry just saw this.
In answer to your questions, I usually sand the timbermate as level as I can get using light sanding with 240 or 320 grit. I usually only want to timbermate to "pop" the grain.
I do not sand between stains, it doesn't take much to sand through, so no further sanding on the veneer until I'm wet sanding the final coats.
Very well done Andy! Work of art..👍
