Wow, that's more yellow than I expected. Be interested to see how the colour changes as it dries.

Looks like it should turn out real nice, the grain of the wood is showing up nicely under the colour of the finish.
Those pics look so satisfying. Lovely colour.
butterscotch looks great Andy, did you use 100% butterscotch and not water it down with the white mix ?
headstock looks great too
Look thats wet guys so of course it soaked up pretty quick and dulled a bit. I expect 3 - 4 coats are needed.
thats 50/50 butterscotch and white base wokks

Looking great so far, and I reckon the butterscotch colour suits it well.

Dots, why didn’t I just use dots for the SV? Looks rather like the business Andy!
Hey Andy40, how come one of the dot-inlays ended up with a hole drilled in it?
Self inflicted Doc, I replaced the plastic ones with paua dots.
To take the old ones out you carefully drill a hole through the plastic then turn the drill bit around, place it in the hole and wiggle the plastic dot free.
Ah rightio, the Tele is looking real good now, those three brass compensated saddles are a nice touch, I'm going to do the same with my 51 Tele build once I get round to ordering the kit, I'll have to wait till Darwin's rainy season stops before I start doing any finishing work on it though.
Thanks guys, anyone know the best place to earth the tele bridge. tested her out today and aside from a neck height issue and the earthing issue, she sounds like a sweet vintage country tele!
Hey Andy I usually drill a hole from where the back part of the bridge plate sits to the bridge pup cavity and make sure there is plenty of bare wire making contact with the bridge plate. I usually whack some solder down the hole so the wire doesn't pull through
First tele complete. Glamour photos to come. To say I'm happy is an understatement. I cannot believe how good my pups sound ( better than tonerider IMHO).
It's so country even DK won't be proud!!!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...26d31fa524.jpg

nice one Andy glad your hand wound pups sound good and it looks good too. Is that your earth wire the black wire with clips ?
Wow!! That Tele looks awesome Andy40, would love to see a video of it being played, have you tried playing it through your Blues Cube amp?, if so, how does she sound?
I love the translucent Butterscotch finish, that's how I want my 51 Tele kit to look like once it's finished, will definitely get it ordered next year for sure.
Blackguard Teles..... Mmmmmmmmm
I take it the bridge pup doesn't have a brass base plate like most vintage style tele pickups do, as the screws going through the bridge into the base plate shoud earth it sufficently.
Looking very sweet, hope mine (currently at sanding stage) looks nearly as good.
Ha yeah thats my earth "solution. Its on old photo, I've earthed it properly since.
Twang central. First prototype finished.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...af74811e54.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...747432fb82.jpg
