Looks good Wokks. What clear are you using?
hey Weirdy cheers. Using a british paints gloss spray, got fair to good results in the past
Looks great.
ok about time for an update, its had clear coats cured and did a neck fret level and polish and got tuners installed. here's a mock build, note the body hasn't had any polishing yet. Thats tomoz's mission then assemble. Havent had a chance to oil the fingerboard yet but rest is looking glossy
Ooooh, that is looking good. It actually looks more like a deliberate pattern than just lots of end grain.
cheers Simon. Hopefully this arvo I'll have time to polish the body and start assembling it
Loving it Woks another awesome Tele!

cheers Ponch, off to start polishing now. What the hell happened to the Swannys mate ?
Haha no idea a bit slow out of the starting blocks for my liking! They'll warm up eventually...

remember Ponch if you are looking for a mower oil rag the Swans scarf is suitable haha
Just hope Freo can beat the Cats tomoz, myself and DB are going to the game, DB has taken up my mates membership and gone Pies to a Freo fan !
whats happening with your jazz bass mate ?
Let's see after a few more games.....the scarf maybe called upon.... No progress on the JB I'm in recovery from an Op for next 6-8 weeks I cannot even hold a guitar! But... have been planning a load of builds :)

That is sweet Wokks, tele shape lends itself well to these sorts of builds
Very cool indeed, probably the only build direction Leo missed for the Tele
cheers for the comments all. I got the body polished and assembly done lastnight, wired up and works. Still got strap pins and string retainers to go on. First time I've strung a reverse headstock, it's weird using opposite hands.
I'll post some better daylight pics soon. Early thoughts it plays pretty well, Action is way too high but didn't hear any fret buzz so neck is level
@ Ponch hope you recover from your operation and are back in the man cave soon ! It's the best therapy !
got to cut a control cover but will worry about that later. As usual I wired the pups the wrong way around on the switch so need to swap the wires.
The eagle eyes will spot I forgot to plan for left hand tuners on the reverse headstock haha oh well
There's still cricket happening on Fox Waz and in between the incredible number of Andre Reiu concerts there is some quality stuff on the Arts channel
Hi Dave, I went cheapskate on the latest renewal and dropped some content and sadly miss out on the Arts channel as they do have some great music shows from time to time. Not really into Andre Reiu so not crying myself to sleep over missing any of those shows. As for cricket, used to be a huge fan but lost interest a few years ago plus it does drag on all day. Good if you have nothing else to do but since taking up this guitar building there has been many other priorities to consider ahead of endless hours in front of the box.
What can't you do Wokks?
haha cheers Andy, My 4D mate Popeye has already glued another blank and has sanded one side fairly flat !
Strat body this time?
Hey Zandy not sure what body shape Popeye is doing, maybe another tele, not sure
yeah I agree Zandy, I will try and talk him into a strat shape. Depends if he's over the sanding phase of just getting the blank flat !
How about a contoured Tele with heavily rounded edges, tummy and elbow cut. That should show of lots of edges and grain variations.
not a bad idea Weirdy cheers for that, I will bounce the idea off Popeye
Maybe you could then try making a pallet out of some old guitars? ;)
Somehow I missed this thread. You never cease to amaze me Wokka
Haha Simon that's a tough challenge.
@ Dedman cheers mate
Popeye got the blank for his end grain axe sanded fairly flat and cut this modified tele shape with bit of an offset. Yesterday arvo I did the routing of the cavities for him and did a mock build with a mix of hardware
few more pics. Good routing practice
Nice work Wokka
cheers Deddy
I was just thinking that with the block construction, if you know the final body shape and where the pickup and control cavities are going to go, then it may be possible to drill the wiring passages in the blocks before you fit and glue them all together.
could do Simon but the blocks do move a bit when they are glued and clamped so the holes may not line up well enough. It's a 5 minute job with a long drill bit. I got close to punching through the body on a control cavity to bridge pup cavity !
new one looks good Wokks, a bit Music Man , a bit Wolfgang, a lot cool
Yep, love that. Great shape.
cheers Stan and Pabs, yeah I spose it's pretty close to a Wolfgang shape. One row of pine blocks ended up glued on an angle so he had to cut it off so the blank was short so not much scope for axe shapes
