got some goof off today, seems to have taken a lot of the glue off but I'll still do a very thin (PRS style) burst around the edge , hope to get back to it tomorrow
head stock with 1 coat of TO . The decal was done with the grease proof paper and iron method.

Was going to prime the sides and back of the body today but its blowing a gale :(
slow and steady mate, decal looks good, did you find the process difficult?
the first time I did Stan. Then I found it worked better if you tape the greaseproof to an a4 paper, on my printer (lazer) it didn't like feeding the greaseproof by itself. Also, the smoother the timber is , of course the better the adhesion.
great tips thanks, good to see different ways of doing headstock decals
I can't say the name on your headstock without saying
"Master Caster runs Bartertown"
I keep hearin Steve Wonder singin it
Looking good Deddy.
I successfully did TO on the Fret Board of my J Bass, just put down less coats than for a whole body. Probably 6 - 8 from memory and here are a couple of shots of the end result. Looks and feels just like a Maple Fender would and really happy with the outcome.

I lurv that J bass, I think it's the red that does it.
Thanks Frankie. Tend to think a Rosewood Fret Board would have detracted from the body and really happy with the outcome.
Suspect this may be the colour scheme Dedman has in mind and wholeheartedly encourage him to do it.
you got that right :)
got some black on the back of the body today

looks good Dedman great job buddy. So red stain for the top ?
yup, it's done, I'm going to do a very narrow burst to hide some glue next week weather permitting
nice, satin black or gloss for this one?
it will be gloss, I will clear over everything when its done. The neck is finished except for fret polishing, I did that with TO, just 6 thin coats
Sounds good
Freeway switch arrived today :) Fine weather predicted tomorrow so air brushing the mini burst in the morning hopefully.
sounds good Dedman, so presume you mean the body top, what's the plan black edge and red stain in the middle ?
yup very thin border to hide some glue I couldn't shift. Red is already done
ok look forward to pics after the burst is done Dedman !
first clear coats are on

looks great Dedman, is that black strip around the centre to cover more glue ?
yea, it was pretty thick, by the time I'd dug it out I had to fill it with timbermate
fair enough Dedman, looks cool anyway. How did you clean the binding did you mask it or clean/scrape it after the burst ?
glad you cover your motorbikes, would hate any overspray to land on them !
I masked it then had to scrape it anyway there is always some that gets under. I just use a bit of 800 grit paper folded down to about a centimetre square and us my thumb as a guide on the edge.
stunning day here today, I sanded and put 2 more coats on, so that's it, just final sand and polish to go on the body. Bad news is my 1k push pull pot arrived...but it's not a push pull, the idiots sent a normal one.
which supplier sent the wrong pot Dedman ? they should replace it at their cost but will delay the wiring stage
an ebay dealer in the UK. Couldn't find one anywhere else that didn't want to charge $50 postage
well you will probably have to wait over a week to get a replacement pot if they require you to send the wrong one back. There's always delays finishing a build that are out of your hands !
it took a month for them to get here, not impressed, going to demand express post.
wow ok fair enough Dedman, a month to post from UK is shocking.
I ordered some bicycle parts from UK and they arrived 3 days later, was really impressed.
Not sure if this is what your looking for Dedman http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-CTS-1-Meg-...UAAOSwIgNXm5wG
Have you tried Mouser
http://au.mouser.com/All-Manufacture...switch&FS=True
spot on Kim, however the second one wants a min order of 1000 pieces LOL
Mouser does singles not sure why it shows min 0f 1000 lol have you tried entering just one to basket Dedman. If not your going to build lots of guitars with 1 meg push pulls lol.
that red and black is amazing
I have a 500k push pull if that would help...
Red and black looks great Deddy. I feel that i am lagging behind in the community build thus far.
Thanks Stan I have a few of those but they recommend 1meg pots with these pick ups. The guy has sent me replacements, just gotta wait now. Meantime body has had its first polish, neck is done.
