too cool Wokka!
Your guitars just keep getting better mate, this one looks amazing
cheers Gav and Stan, pretty happy how its turning out. Forgot how much work there is building a scratch neck !
Looking great Wokks, you gotta be proud of this one. I find building necks quite easy on the cnc lol... Are the art of hand crafting and satisfaction and hard work will all be worth it in the end.
cheers Jarrod, looking forward to finishing the neck then clear coats. I've learnt alot more building this neck
Yes the neck is the tricky bit hey?still it's much more for satisfying building one
yeah you're dead right Jman. You take the neck for granted in a kit.
Might still tee up to get the neck pocket engraved next visit I go to see DB if you are in Perth.
Maybe put our 3 names and the date of completion
got 4th clear coat on the body, its starting to get a natural gloss. I'm planning a trip to DB's Friday so hope to get the neck frets dressed, then I'll do final shaping of the neck and should be ready for clear coats after that
Geeze Wokks that is coming up a treat. You have bought that wood figure up sweet.
cheers Jarrod, it's easy with the latest Dingotone clear, might even stop me using naughty oil hahah
This action will not get you out of the naughty room Wokks. People like us have been bad for to long to get paroll that easily
haha yeah Jarrod I fully understand us two have life in the naughty room. Anyway why would you want to leave the NR, beer, pizza, wifi and building guitars !
When are you trying out the new nitro spray equipment ?
Keeps on getting better and better man. Planning my first proper scratchie and i have this and jarrods to inspire me. You guys rock. Thanks for sharing!
Doing it now bro, stuff just needs leaving to cure then cut n polish. Then the bitch will be put together, I got a feeling it's gonna be killer. By the way the equipment don't change just the product.
Dude it's not a scratchy you want to build but more a fully sic custom instrument. a scratchy is your trial guitar (your first build) when that guitar has the quality to out shine a Les Paul hanging in the shop then you just built a custom guitar. And you know we will all help you to build that custom guitar, dam shame you dont live in Perth man cause there's luthier shit in the air over here.
What wokks has build here is serious custom guitar.
Funny that, been asked a fair bit lately to go work it Karratha. Closer to Perth than I am now haha. Totally agree mate. Still finding my feet with a router so baby steps. I hope my first build proper comes out Amazeballs, and then I'll shoot for pro levels of workmanship. Thanks mate.
Mate I have no doubt your gonna produce something pretty special .
this is coming up so nicely Gav
cheers Stan. You mixed me up with Gav ?
Yeah this awesome build is way outta my league Stan :P.
cheers,
Gav.
That's not true Gav. Sure if you lived in Perth and had the resources that I do you could build something like this
haha no worries Stan, it's not the first time someone got the name of the builder wrong, all good. Cheers Mate.
Off to DB's Friday to dress the frets on the neck and should be ready for clear coats soon
That neck is gorgeous. So is the body, but I really, really like the neck.
cheers Ihasmario, I must post some current photos, its had quite a few clear coats and the neck is finished and has 3 clear coats with the 4D logo on.
Looks great! Awesome pieces of timber too.
cheers Metalhead, probably won't be finished in time for scratch build of the year, oh well, always next year
finally dusted off this build got some nice goodies in the post, some tonerider hot classic pups, gotoh tuners, 4 way switch, and just seeng how it's coming together. Got a polish, so final setup/fitting then should be able to attack the wiring. Neck has been levelled
here's couple more angles. If all goes well could get some sound out of this Sunday !
so nice!
The Gotoh tuners are really good, highly recommended
Wokka that is going to be one fine axe.
thanks Tony and Stan
I am hoping to get it making sound today with any luck
Stunning guitar Wokka you not played her yet
*sits at computer impatiently tapping fingers*
Kimball haven't screwed in the neck and Bridge and have to do the wiring
Too busy snapping up specials...
Ahh Wokks . . . so woody, so striking & so damn cool.
About time we saw some more of this little beauty.
Thanks all for the nice comments. All the final assembly took alot longer than I thought, and didn't plan for the bridge being a string through, so found 6 gold ferrules and gold neck plate from a FV kit. My drill press didn't have the reach to drill the string through holes so had to wing it with the hand drill, the ferules lined up pretty good considering. Got the neck, bridge and control cover screwed in, and both pup cavities shielded. Just need to sort out the neck pup wiring mod for the 4 way switch and do the wiring
more pics, a close up of the gold ferules, and the DB laminate neck suits the body nicely
