looking nice and shiny, well done Andrew
pretty nice work, love seeing the timber layers
That top veneer is looking fantastic Andrew!
cheers,
Gav.
so sweet! neck glued?
Nah not yet. I'll get the bridge in first so I can line it all up.
looking a treat Andrew, well done bro, I'll see you in the naughty room !
I'm firing up the pizza oven tonight so you can pour beers and chop ingredients !
Drool.... I love the PRS kits and yours looks spectacular.
cheers,
Gav.
Thanks gentlemen.
Guys, pup wiring question. Yellow is the neck right? On my kit the yellow wiring is way shorter than the Red, so much that it won't reach the pots. Could the Red bridge actually be the neck?
hey Andrew,
think I've had a kit where they mixed up the yellow and red wires on the pups. Normally yellow is neck but in your case just reverse them and wire red to neck, yellow to bridge
Sweet thanks again oh overlord. Just wanted to make sure someone else had the same issue. Cheers mate.
no worries Andrew, sure the stock pups would be identical so the sound should be the same with the pups reversed.
So hopefully you will have some sound out of this baby soon, is the neck glued ?
Sure is mate, tuners on, pots all wired up, frets sorted. I'll have her annoying neighbours in a few hours.
sounds good mate. I built a spalted PRS a while ago and the fretboard feels good and they sound pretty darn good with stock hardware. Wind up the fuzz and the volume ! Might as well record a video once she's smoking !
Yeah mate will do. This is my first all stock kit as well. What should I play?
play whatever you feel like, some chords and a bit of lead would be cool.
Have you got a multimeter ? might be worth checking resistance of both pups, I've never checked the stockys
Sweet, I can do that. I'll get it up tonight at some stage.
Yep, I've noticed the red and yellow are sometimes switched, just check the screw pole orientation with the wire pointed toward the treble side. In my tests on the stock pups the neck is usually a couple of hundred ohms lower than the bridge.
Bad news. The tuners supplied with the kit are 6 a side and for a lefty. http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...57a9e4be4a.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14...a5a0a812d6.jpg
Andrew I have a spare set from a previous kit guitar (silver 3 a side) that you can have. If your in the mackay region over weekend or early in week pm me and you can grab em.
that's a serious disappointment about the tuners, Andrew!
(top offer VH!) ... likewise (if Mackay's too far) and you're in the Sydney area, I have an used set (ex-GR1-SF) doing nothing.
Hi Andrew as per my email we can send you the correct set on Monday. Thanks to the others for offering up your spares.

Wow didn't even see the offers til now. Thanks heaps guys. I was in Mackay Wednesday so should have said something sooner. And thanks again Adam.
And Tony, are you planning any scratch builds? I visited a fella in seaforth on Wednesday and picked up a stack of red cedar, silver ash, blood wood, and Leichardt. Just an old school farmer who does wood work on the side and has a giant heap of wood he wants to sell. Also dewaards on harbour road has tonnes of silky Oaks, red gum and some other gear. The owner is a guitar nut also so was more than excited to show me around the yard and poke through woods suitable for guitars.
Yeah Andrew after christmas going to have a crack at one to see if I have the patience or skill. I will follow up on these guys, ive been scouring the net for timber.
Cool man. I told old mate I might know a guy who may be interested and he said to pass on his number.
Been a while ladies and gentlemen. Has been a rough past few months but finally settled back into work and a new house with a cave for guitar tinkering so things are on the up. First port of call was to get this unit buttoned up and here she is. I wanted to build a pbg using all stock bits and I'm very pleasantly surprised. I've always swapped out the pups for something else but these things nail classic rock and clean up beautifully.
Andrew stunner of a PRS - Awesome finish
Good one Andrew!
great job! looks awesome
Andrew that looks amazing, that finish is absolutely beautiful. If she plays half as good as she looks you would be a happy chappy.
rob
Andrew, this is hands down the most beautful PRS style guitar I have ever seen. Such an amazing veneer you got there and you've made the most of it! Top work.
cheers,
Gav.

A couple more.
good to have you back Andrew and I totally forgot about this build till it popped up on the GOTM thread. Stunning axe bro.
What sort of clear did you use again ?
Thanks man. Good to be back. Missed all the guitar tinkering. It's just a semi gloss wipe on poly.
