Woohoo.
Thanks DB. Glad it wasn't totally guessing in the end (I recall an admired Luthier Mr Ormsby making reference to Blackbutt at some stage or another) but geez the hint helped :)
Really appreciate the opportunity to try out the new finishes you are developing. Email already sent.
Cheers and Thanks Again

Happy to take a get out of Naughty Romm card too.
Can confidently say that all of my evil behaviours were before pitbull existed and distributed wudtone.
My only transgressions might have been some recent wipe on poly...oh bugger. Did I say that? Maybe I have to use the card already....dammit!
-
Hahahaha! You are safe.. I let everyone out for the Easter break :)...... oops... forgot to unlock the door.... Oh well, it's the thought that counts....
The Dingotone Guitar Wax will be in the post on Tuesday. It has been formulated to use on fingerboards as well as on the body as a general timber nourisher and body finish protector.
NSW Blackbutt is a very hard timber so it will be interesting to find out how it sounds. I have heavily chambered the body to drasticaly reduce the weight.
This chunk of Quited BB just had to come home with me from my timber suppliers... can you believe it was a return because it had "too much figure"? WTF!?
It is the first time I have seen BB with this much of a quilt, and this is one of the plainer chunks I will be able to get out of the length :)
-
Was really quite taken with the quilt around the edges. Never heard of the idea that timber has too much figure...now that makes no sense at all.
I've got three yet to be started pitbull kits here, but think the Dingotone wax is going to have to go on the TL1TH kit....should be great on that neck :)

haha classic video, welcome to Dingo's man cave
is there another cut of the video Ads ?
-
Working on it now Wokka, but I'll wait for the official release before I put it up on YouTube.
-
yer ok cool Ads, look forward to that, how many takes did you need to do without DB laughing ?
That PRS in green looks amazing
-
Now you all know why I have a smirk on my face in our videos..... Ads cracks me up every time :)
-
Is there an ETA on the finishes or any pricing info for necks? Itching to continue with my build.
-
Ihasmario, I'd order a wudtone neck kit or waiting for Dingotone will hold up your build !
-
DB - that colourless come in a satin? Starting to think of colours for my new ash Strat and debating between orange and colourless...
-
Woohoo
Feeling pretty privileged to have received Dingotone Guitar Wax today.
I plan to use it on my thinline tele neck.
Being a little uneducated on the topics of oils and waxes, is it dumb of me to ask if it is oil based (has some bearing on what I will do with my decals)?
Thanks again DB for sending this one out, really appreciate it.
It smells good too :)
Cheers

Hey Analyst, The Guitar wax is a blend of oils and wax.
I would put any decals on before applying the wax.
Bman, At the moment the top coat will only be available in gloss, but you can lightly buff it with 0000 steel wool to achieve a satin finish.
-
Thanks DB
The decals I have are on a white background that goes clear after oils are applied, so I expect it will work then. Certainly will put decals on first.
Thanks again
Cheers

Colours look fantastic
So the big question DB is when will these awesome looking products be available to grace a multitude of community builds
-
Wont be too long now, VH.
As with all new products, just when you think you are ready to roll you realise that there are a few boring paperwork type things to do...
Also, I need to be absolutley certain that the finish gloss coat is correctly formulated.
In the meantime, here is another colour to whet your appetites.
I present, Atherton Amethyst...
This body has two coats of Stain coat and four coats of the intensifying coat.. Will leave it for a few days to cure before applying the Finish Gloss coats.
The cool damp weather here in Perth is slowing drytimes :(

Ooooh that's nice... Is that for an ESB-4?
-
the ash strat and ES look fantastic DB. Love that purple, I'll be ordering some of that !
@ Brendan its an ES guitar, the ESB has 3 bridge post holes, this ones got 4
-
That amethyst is gorgeous.
-
sure is Pablo. The amethyst is about 10 times darker than the last batch of amaranthine I got
-
Good pickup Wokks. Should have realised myself...
-
Been busy working on the Dingotone perfecting the top coat... Not long now before it is ready to roll 8-)
Meanwhile, here are a few pics of the SF in Bondi Blue I am building for Adam.

Beautiful colour that DB.
I'm about to launch into using the tub of Dingotone Neck finish on my HB4 (just had to test how the decals reacted to it and can confirm all is good).
Look forward to Dingotone products being listed on the site.
Cheers

That finish is insane, it looks like marble!
-
Man... I love blue guitars (especially Rickies). And I love big fat hollowbody jazz machines too. This is going to be a really hot, cool jazzer. I'd even swap my '77 Keith Richards Custom Tele for it! Maybe.
-
Lawry, I would be expecting a visit from Adam soon..... Lock up ya Tele Bro! :)
-
You da man DB!!! Looks fan-friggen-tastic!
-
looks awesome DB, looks like the bondi blue has improved from the early batches you did.
Lozza I'd be increasing security or lock up your tele mate !
-
Well, looks like my build career must go on indefinitely.
I simply MUST use these finishes at some point.
DB, you are a genius. ;)
-
Hey DB, I just received my tub of DingoTone Wax which I plan on using on a bare Tele neck, but I'm also half way through a Riccy bass build on which I've already used a couple of Feast & Watson stains, is it possible to apply the Wax over those stains as a sort of sealer? Or is it only good for bare wood? Cheers
-
Hey Matt, no problems using it over any finish :)
-
Sweet, will give it a burl on the Riccy too ;)
-
Super keen to check the new colours out!
-
Its finally here!! Just a query though, why does the colourless have a stain and intensifying coat?? Isnt it just supposed to be colourless??
-
Good point.. We decided to run with generic names for the three parts to the finish.
The stain coat is also a foundation for the intensifying coat as it contains a different blend of oils and waxes to form a good base.
