When you start putting on the base coats I think it will darken more with each coat, my Carmine Gypsy for sure did
it looks great, I think you got the stain just right
That's really god for BMW. In the pre Dingotone days I remember that many people had issues getting an even colouration from that particular Wudtone colour above all others.

Next question--humbucker mounting--So do i use the faceplate and use 4 screws to attach it to the p guard or do I mount it without (which would be a nightmare for assembly once wired). Pup face plate cannot be screwed into the body!

I think the finish looks great as it is. Any more and you'll loose the hint of grain you can just about see (although it may look different in the flesh).
If you just use the two pickguard screw holes, then you'd really have to rout a channel in the top between the front pickup and the control cavity in order to make it all work.
If you screw the pickup ring to the pickguard, you'd need to cut away the pickguard underneath where the ring goes in order to fit the pickup mounting lugs through. It would still not be that easy, as you'd have to run the pickup wire through first with the pickup sitting in the rout, then solder it to the controls (hopefully the lead is long enough to allow you to do this) then pull the pickup through the scratchplate hole, fit it to the ring then screw the ring down.
Alternatively you could get some longer pickup mounting screws, stick foam underneath the front pickup and mount the pickup directly to the body so that it just poked through the scratchplate and widened the existing holes to alow a screwdriver through to adjust the pickup height.
The more I think about it, the more appealing a cable channel in the top appears. You won't see it and then you can wire almost everything except the bridge pickup and the bridge ground wire (don't forget to fit that) with the scratchplate out of the body.
You must be pleased now the way the BMW has turned out...
