Wilkinson Trem bought....
Who sang that song... "it won't be long now"?
Bit of a dummy assembly, at first thought a white pickguard would have been better.. but now I like the black..
Nut to change to black yet also...
Got a Tusq nut and it fits nice n tight, it does sit a little lower than the nut supplied, should I try raise it a little? its about 1mm in difference
Depends on the action of the strings. If it is to low then you could get a lot of buzz... What happens when you put the strings on and use that nut (of course not glued in)?
Nothing yet Kick, Thursday a new loaded pickguard arrives as do my locking tuners so will assemble it over the weekend,
The actual slots look a bit rounded to me, so they probably aren't as deep as you think they are. Most nuts are a lot higher than they need to be, so hopefully you should be fine. As Kick says, try it first without any glue to check the height. String tension will hold it in place.
Remember after stringing, give the neck quite some time to settle down under tension, overnight is good. Then in this order:
1) Set up the neck relief
2) Set the saddle heights for clean, non-buzzing playing
(you may want to repeat 1 then 2 a few times until you are happy)
3) Adjust nut height/slot depth
4) Set the intonation
I do like the black pickguard.
Thanks Simon, the pickguard in the pic will be fitted in a new strat that is winging its way toward the UK right now, the one going in this guitar is also black but an upgrade from Ironstone
Oh not happy this afternoon.... last one to put on....
The tape was in preparation for getting it out..... got some fine hollow tube, scored it across and a little bit of drilling over the screw that managed to loosen enough wood to get my pointy nose pliers on it, just filled the hole with wood filler as the locking nut covers 99% of the area, little but of touch up and we have saved the day
