first build flying v

hey guys just attached some pics. honestly nothing special as i have only clear coated it but i like the nice wood finish. the neck is done hopefully a couple more clear coats than the assembly.

Oh Hell yeah! Some nicely matched figure in that front face veneer and some nice grain in the neck. Really clean and simple so far Brokin, nice job!

I dont think PRS rout in their nuts like on Fender Strats, so simplest form of removal is place a small wood block on the fret side of the nut and give a short sharp hammer tap towards the headstock. The block distributes the force across the whole nut, helping to avoid chipping it off , and gives you a bit more to aim at with the hammer - hopefully avoiding damage.

Simply insert the new nut _ clean up the cavity if needed. As for glue - some say wood glue, some say super glue, either way you only need a drop or two. Superglue holds well, dries hard and brittle - making it easier to remove by the above method if you ever need to again.

hey guys. another quick question i just thought about. would it be better once its built to set it up on standard e tuning first and let the guitar settle then tune to c standard? i am wanting to have this guitar setup in c tuning. any advice?

hey guys just confirming as i fitting the shielding tape do i do the bottom also or just the sides like the pic.

you need to do the bottom as well, the idea is to create a shield around the electronic parts to eliminate interference.

Hi Brokin,
I would tune to standard E tuning and let the neck set in. Once it has then tune to your C standard and then it will have to adjust to that.
It's worth shielding all faces of the cavities and the bottom of the cover.

thanks heaps again i basically put it every where i needed to and i think i did pretty good.

ok but now i have a little issue. i noticed with the wiring it needs to earth to the bridge. but there is not area where i can feed through the wiring to solder it on. anyone else come accross this issue?

Brokin good job on the shielding. There needs to be an earth wire from the treble side bridge bush to the control cavity, so you will have to remove the bush. If there is no hole drilled you have to drill one, preferrably with a long drill bit, 3mm drill is big enough

Normally in the kits, you will find a wee hole in the control cavity, which runs through to the hole for the nearest bridge post. the idea being you feed your earthwire through that and then insert the bridge post anchor over the exposed wire to create an earth connection to the bridge.
I notice you've already got the bridge anchors in place, was there no hole apparent when you popped them in?
