The outside lugs are where your pickup hot leads get attached, and the the inside two are grouped and go to the volume pot.
hey JB, as Pablo said, fold the 2 centre lugs together is the output to the volume pot and outside lugs neck and bridge pup hot wires and you are correct teh single lug at the other end is the earth.
Here is a typical wiring diagram for 2 pickups, 1 volume, 1 tone with 3 way switch, is that the configuration you are going with ?
Build looking good so far !
wow very cool, nice pick guard
Thanks guys, I had a feeling that's how it might be. Just so good to have this forum.
By the way, is the ground wire good to be shielded type ? Or is it any of the others. I'm doing the wiring with the old style cloth covered wire from PBG.
JB the cloth wire will be fine for an earth wire
The two centre tags on the switch are normally bent together so they meet. It's a lot easier to wire that way.
As any shield is connected to ground, a shielded ground wire would be ground wrapped round a ground, so rather pointless. If you were using shielded wire for your signal cables, then just one of the cables' shield would be connected to the ground tag, the other switch end shields would be left disconnected at the switch end but connected to ground at the pot (or output jack) end. You ideally don't want to join shields together in two places as this means that a circular current (induced by the same external electro-magnetic field that is trying to add hum to your signal) can flow through them and reduce the effectiveness of the shield.
Ok thanks Simon and Wokka, I think I've got it.
