Dig that colour BIG time, mate! Looks awesome. :D
wow Ozz I missed this post, the colour of the body and neck look awesome. This will be a stunning build well done
Thanks guys. I noted that naughty oil does lay a yellowish tinge over whatever is underneath....so I made the Blue as dark as I could to try and not go green...the greenish tinges are the body grain amazingly. Basswood is such an underrated wood.
I like the colour of the neck....was a mix to get that....the fretboard under the tape is a nice yellow.
She will hang now for about 10 days and then I need to make the choice of the finish.....my normal thing of plolyurethane or try some of the White Knights aerosol can Acrylic Clear Gloss?
The Gold Upgrade pack will make a difference as well I think....all different. :)
That blue colour/finish has come up a treat, great job
the neck and body colours look awesome, gonna work real well with the gold hardware and the pearl pickguard
I have finished her....she is done and in all her glory.
It is a BASSWOOD body with maple neck and fingerboard.
My design headstock shape.
My mix of blue and Green/Black waterbased stain on the body. The neck carries a mix of Colortone vintage amber and yellow waterbased stain.
The grain was dragged out of the neck and the body with many coats of naughty oil. She has hung for weeks and then 5 thin coats of Minwax wipe on ....um...other-stuff-a-thane was applied with steel wool in between. :)
Then the auto compound and waxes and then DT wax on the fingerboard and a couple of coats of Dr Ducks all over to finish.
She has then had a Pitbull gold upgrade pack applied, and a pitbull pearloid pickguard fitted. Including these upgrades all of this build came from Pitbull.
(She has the standard pickups fitted at the moment.) Note the headstock names her as the RGTcaster. That is the initials of my son....we shall see what he thinks before dad throws Tonerider or Duncan pickups at him.
I hope you like the end result guys....I do....the colours are different and the gold and pearloid all works in together.
Love this stuff. G.A.S. in full swing right here. :)
