Digging it. That headstock shape is great.
Liking the look of this. Those original holes are very wonky!
I have to agree with Scott and Wokka, the headstock shape is great, but the tuner holes need to be offset from the "string-lines". The E string looks spot on, but the others all need to move a little bit "south". But are you also trying to increase the distance between the nut and the tuners?
The photos probably aren't doing the idea justice- I'm looking at it now in the flesh and it's starting to become an optical illusion...
Once I've cut the shape out and plugged the holes, I will be able to determine the correct placement much more effectively.
sounds good BG, so you planning on doing that over the weekend?
I suggest you work out the tuner hole placement before you cut the shape as you want the top edge of the headstock to be parallel with the line of tuners.
Must feel good to be back on the forum and building again - it's been too long
Going to be a great build mate. JBs are my favorite
Either way this will be a neat bass, so when am I coming to "borrow" it El?
...by lucky happenstance I came across the headstock template from the Nate Bass I built a few years back- it was my first PitBull Bass and can be seen in the demo vid for the JB-4.
The alignment of the Nate bass was spot on, so hopefully this template plan will mean there are no further problems. They seem to line up on the first measure, but I'll be measuring a few more times before the drills come out.
Nice BG! I like the shape!
...and is in place with the control panel.
Now all we need is the replacement high mass Gotoh bridge to arrive, and we're under way!
