It's nice to know I'm on your mind but I think you probably meant this comment for AJ.
Finally got some more done today.. after melting over here in Melbourne..
routed out the pup area, drilled the though holes for the strings, made up a pick guard from 3mm maple veneer and sorted out how I'm going to mount the pots n switch.
I free hand routed the pups as I was slacking it.. worked out good for me.

I am going do a varying bevel around the outside of the body to give the appearance of an arched top. think it will enhance the look a little.
looking great AJ!
Nice AJ.
Mighty fine job of the freehand cavity's. Your a braver man than I. :)
Hi AJ. You're making this build more interesting every time you post. Nice job with the pup surrounds too.
thanks for the great comments guys, I am using this as an additional learning curve for myself. Dan, I am a tad lazy and generally go the free hand route, just a matter of taking your time, and keeping a good hold of the router, once you have the pocket deep enough, it actually then becomes your template/ guide (if using a straight bit that is). Also being a one off, there is no real advantage in the effort to make a template, however, that said, I would recommend making templates for future use etc.
Today I got the control cavity routed and prelim holes drilled for the pots and switch. There is a slight straying in one spot in the pocket as a bloody fly attacked me.. I stopped at that time and went on the hunt to kill the pesky critter, which is now 1 micron thick and 3 inches wide..lol It's not a problem and wont effect the cosmetic look as it will be covered in copper shielding.
I also rough shaped the top, now only some major finishing sanding to the top . Still have not made up my mind as to do a gut relief on the back.. all in all, a productive day.
If you squint, and turn your head to the right angle, think I almost have an arched top .. ;)
