yer cheers Gav, my 22nd birthday(again -haha)was on Monday. I got cash for my birthday will go towards a new Fender Mustang V digital amp head I've ordered for the Marshall cabinet, should make some cool sounds.
hi guys,
Well, Christmas has come and gone and I am finally permitted to start my Stone Roses Tribute build! On (un)boxing day I ripped the original kit open only to find that there was a routing problem with the second pickup cavity that I didn't notice before. Unfortunately I didn't have a hope in hell of fixing the problem myself. Adam came to the rescue (amazing PBG service as usual!) and a replacement kit arrived on my doorstep today. I gotta say I'm very happy with the replacement kit over the original, with its nicely finished f-hole and some gorgeous grain on the rosewood fretboard.
I quickly did a mock fit to check that everything looks good (it does) and now I am raring to go. Looking at the mockup it struck me just how nice this baby would look in a natural (colourless or slightly amber) finish. Oh well, it's destined to have paint splashed over it!

I've got two other builds on the go at the moment, so I guess this baby will have to wait just a little while to get started. Can't wait!
cheers,
Gav.
That 'f' hole is a huge improvement over the one DB and I got!
nice looking kit Gav, what was the issue with the 1st kits pickup cavity ?
should look good with your stone roses tribute !
@Wokka - the bridge pickup cavity was shifted 1/2 cm to the right compared to the neck pickup cavity, the bridge posts and the heel. Unfortunately if it was routed out back where it needed to be (ie in line with everything else), then the gap would have been visible from under the pickup surround.
cheers,
Gav.
ok cheers Gav, the Chinese factory still making some bad mistakes ! Seems they need a lesson making left handed axes too. Good that Adam got your replacement kit so quickly
hi guys,
Since this is a special build for me I decided to make a video diary along the way. I've never done this before and this first installment (about mockup) is pretty crappy, but i'll post a link anyway. Maybe I'll get better as I go along? Who knows. I'm not TV presenter material that's for sure. Made quite a few stuff ups ;).
