Sanding down first coat of Monty's Relic Wax....messy, but looking very nice I think.
Finding the edges hard to keep even (need more space and better tools but it's a shoestring operation here ;-)

(hopefully better photos coming a bit further down the line, eyeroll...)
It's 'relic' wax, so you obviously don't expect it to look pristine. ;)
Ha, that's the spirit ;-)
It is really nice though, a very satisfying process
Cut headstock shape (about 50% pig's ear, 50% happy) and both neck and body front & back have had a 1500 sand. Very smooth, very happy...!

Rushed a couple of steps but feeling ok:
Fret levelling and crowning - should have done it much earlier but didn't have the block. Not perfect but learnt a lot from doing it. Also wire wool! The best.
Bridge ground in: bit nerve wracking...
Pickguard: Fits!
Copper shielding: it's posh sellotape.
Decal: Messed up lacquer matching so yes, you can still see the edges :-(
Better next time...
Neck: Screwed on. So far so good...?
Next: soldering!

Finished 11.15pm March 2nd...
If I'd had more time, would have worked on the neck angle, but I'll leave that to Dad (who this guitar was a surprise present for...). Really, really happy. The P90 sounds excellent! Really crisp.
Thanks everyone on the forum for tips and general moral support :-)
Next builds already planned - two v.old projects from 2004 coming back to life...
Cheers
