While I was sanding the resin (and casting more!), I had an idea. This is the start of it, trying to figure out the wiring. Thanks to YouTube, I found just what I was looking for. Here is the test setup ...

Once I was happy with that, I picked up the soldering iron and got to work ...

One more hole in the body - sorry, had to be done!

And wool-ah!!! A switchable light for the control box! I cast the cover in resin and because it is translucent, it looks so good!! I love the blue LED's. It doesn't make the bass sound better, but it is better for the eyes and soul!!

Oh, and I have noticed a few of the semi-hollow guitars have their wiring visible through the hole. Mine was the same and it has been annoying me. So to sort it out, I have moved it. I used this sealant. It sets clear and is non-toxic. Fullers Ultra-Clear. Great product.

I just jammed in a bunch of it, and held the wires in place while it set. Happy with the result :) If i ever do need to get back in there, it is easily removed and has a silicone vibe to it. I will post a picture tomorrow when it has fully cured to show how inconspicuous it is.

Current state ... Smaller switch controls the light. Kinda pointless, but its fun \m/

After work tomorrow, I will continue. Must sleep ....
And I will be dreaming of installing the neck. It is a little daunting to be honest, but I will give it a good crack.
Adios till we meet again
This build is great!
Resin work is so cool. I have half an idea to do some fret markers like that.
@JohnH and @Sonic Mountain - Thanks for the feedback :)
I like the lights, very cool.
Are the visible from the front of the guitar, or just the back? Will the glow be visible through the f-holes?
Heya, just from the back. I like the "hidden secret" aspect of it and the additional button makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
I just installed the neck and when I was about to string it I noticed the nut is missing :( Not sure what to do

So I came across a hiccup :( My nut is missing (see post above). So, unfortunately, I don't think I will be posting much in tonight's session. Before I realised this, I had done the following so it was not a completely written off night. And I had only a few hours sleep last night so an early one might be just what the doctor ordered.
Installing the machine head: I have been waiting in anticipation for this to happen. I am happy with the custom tuning pegs i cast in resin. I threw in a bit of Emerald Green and they came up beautifully. The holes were pre-drilled which made things a little easier.

And the end result
Attachment 35953
Next up, I lined up the neck and bolted that in. I listened to @simon barden's advice and increased the holes in the body ever so slightly and drilled into the neck. The pre-drilled holes in the neck did not line up so I needed to make 4 more. Yay, the bass is now 1 piece

Stringing: So when I tried to thread the B string through the body, it did not fit. A simple measure with my caliper, and a hole widening soon fixed that :)

B and G strings through the body ready for the next phase

And then the awful realisation that my nut is missing.
Guess I will need to wait until tomorrow. This might be a blessing in disguise? I wonder if I can customise this?
I will put it on the backburner and see how I feel tomorrow.
