I like the stain. If you didn't tell me it was stained I would think it was natural wood coloration, which is how I like my guitar necks.
And is the paw print going on the reverse?

Jeez Andy, I clearly need you to visit Canberra to do the finish on my guitars.

A fairly vintage stagger pattern for the magnets. Have you considered using a more appropriate stagger to match today's string selection? https://kinman.com/magnet_stagger.php
I'll look into that Simon. These pups have Anico v's for the wound strings and Alnico II's for the unwound strings. I've wound the telecaster version of this and they sound great on an American White ash body, so I thought I'd try them on my strat build.
@FW and Juggers - unfortunately its the Dunning-Kruger effect for me.
I recently left a forum because I had a "disagreement" with an "Amateur Luthier" when I posted what I thought to be a helpful post as the fellow had the exact problem that I had in a build which I made a mistake on. Said "Amateur Luthier" promptly informed me that I didn't know what I was talking about and threw a bunch of physics articles at me and in his opinion meant that meant there would be no problem for the poor fellow.
I still have that guitar with the same problem and its on my list of things to fix which is physical proof that his articles were wrong in application.
