The brasswork just sets this off brilliantly.

Cheers man - yep was definite a case of knowing when to let go of the clock work. I'm much happier with the look here and its a lot more practical as well.

Can't believe its done actually, sitting here jamming out on it now, its playing beautifully with the flat wounds on it.

Awesome work dude! Looks and sounds great. Do you block the PU back with wet or dry on your finishes and with what grades ?

Generally speaking I do an initial coat as per the can instructions. Let it dry for about a week or longer if I can be patient. Then I block it back using 600-1500. Clean it really well then do the can instructions again - it's three coats with a short drying time in between.

Then just let it dry really well. Even if you make a few small boo boos it flattens out really well as it hardens. You can repeat the process as many times as you need to, to get a flat finish, but it really needs to dry properly as you go.

I've been using Cabot exterior gloss and satin and I don't think the gloss needs polishing if you do it properly.

I am really enjoying the satin neck on this one actually.

I've actually found it doesn't matter too much, it really fills in minor imperfections very well. But for a nice flat gloss finish I'd go wet. The hardest thing is keeping it all clean and dust free before spraying and when drying. If you can get a good laydown it works itself out really well.
