yeah with your black burst I would definitely use black pup covers and black knobs/switch tip. Will it be chrome or black hardware ?

good job on the headstock burst ! should match well with the body
just sat the bits together just to see how it looks. it actually looks good with the white pickups.

With a maple fret board maybe white accents is the way to go .
Love the way that burst works with the pickguard. I think the whit and chrome tie the fret board to the darker body and head colours.
It's looking really good, just be careful of soft paint while you are mocking up like that, you'd kick yourself if you marked that burst job at this stage!
hey guys. just asking does anything go underneath the bridge. or does it just rub up against the body?
Hey Brokin yes bridge sits on the body, nothing in between. You will find you won't tighten the screws too much so the plate can pivot. I screw the neck in first (make sure the top side is flush with the pocket) then align the bridge with both E strings installedhttp://cdncache-a.akamaihd.net/items...rrow-10x10.png.
Mock build looks excellent, good work and agree keep the white pup covers on
thats looking great brokin, love the paint and colour combo
hey guys sorry need to bug you again. just wanted to confirm the pickup height on this kind of guitar. is is the same a s a humbucker? i noticed the little metal pole things stick out a bit in the middle. do i measure from those points or from the plastic cover
Mr Google comes up with lots of helpful info, this is the one I used I figured Fender might have a rough idea of how to do it ;)

thank you 😊
this is how it looks. just a few things left to fine tune. i have played it and wow. the sound that comes out of thia guitar. i never have had had a strat before and this thing has now convinced me you can enjoy a guitar totally different than what you are used too. now i have to start learning some songs to play on this guitar. 😊

Looks good Brokin. Would you consider adding white control knobs and switch tip as that may give a bit more balance to the overall effect.
Geez, you don't muck about putting a guitar together. Some us take ages whilst newbies are just pumping them out.
Cheers, Waz
thanks wokkaboy. yeah i might look into the white control knobs.
yeah i get to excited i just have to keep working on it. even in the middle of the night. lol
i really enjoy building guitars. i never thought i would be able to. but here i am. number 2 is almost complete.
Hi Brokin. From the look of it, you haven't put any clear coats over the paintwork. Whilst not 100% necessary, it's what all the manufacturers do, otherwise the paint finish isn't thick enough to protect the guitar in the years to come and will wear through very quickly. Although it means taking all the parts off and spraying again, it's worth it in the long run.
Use the same type of paint as you used for the body, so if you used acrylic, then use an acrylic clear coat. You need to apply several coats over a few days, then wait a 2-3 weeks for it to harden, then rub it flat then polish it for a really nice shine. Or else use a satin clearcoat spray if you don't want it shiny - but I'd still wait a couple of weeks for the finish to harden before putting the hardware back on and playing it.
Looking good though - and definitely white knobs!
hey guys just did another short vid of this beast. just learnt part of this song with this guitar. im still in shock at how nice this thing sounds. it is just a phone recording so sorry once again for the bad recording. i hope you guys like.

Hey Waz not sure with the next build. im thinking of finishing the pitbull guitars off with upgrade (nut, bridge etc). now i know how good the sound of the toneriders and the entwistle pickups are. im looking at upgrading my PRS se pickups. funds are my biggest enemy. haha
brilliant result brokin!
thanks dedman. i have to honestly say the tonerider pickups are amazing and the help from you guys and the knowledge from the forum is better than pretty much any store ive been to. not try to insult anyone.
great demo Brokin, good version of Sultans of Swing. What pickup setting was that on ? It's got a lovely tone. As you said worth upgrading tuners, bridge and put a bone nut on now and it will be a sweet axe. Those city limits are great hey
Thanks Wokkaboy. the tuners are the grover locking tuners, so i can cross them off the bucket list. so yeah just the bridge and nut i beleive. but hard to know which bridge to get as there are a few different types. would you know which one i should upgrade to? did tou upgrade your bridge?
with what setting i had it on i would say number 2 if you count the bridge as number one and the neck as number 5. so the bridge and middle mixed i think it is and yeah lovin the city limits pickups
Demo sounds very nice and a classic song one of my favourites

Echo comments of all others before me.
Very impressed if you just picked that song up when doing the demo. Classic song and also a very classic sounding guitar. Sounds as good as any made in USA version or at least very hard to pick the difference from that demo.
thanks guys for the kind comments. im very pleased with the strat. I know ive asked before but os there a way of knowing what bridge i need to get for the strat. it is the St-1 with maple neck what bridge did you guys upgrade to?
I'd do a bone nut 1st as that will make a huge improvement.
Hmmm, bridges, so many to choose from and some that cost lots of money too. Have a long hard look at how everything sits and how sturdy the metal parts appear. Sometimes replacing the saddles might be enough on top and then maybe the tremolo block underneath as some folk seem to think that makes a lot of difference. Not to me though as I never use a trem and just load em up with a full set of springs and then screw the claw in nice and tight. Improves sustain outa sight but no good if you want to play whammy.
thanks Waz. i never thought of that. i could just replace the saddles. i have the bridge sitting up a bit but yeah i never thought of tightening it up and playing it that way. i honestly dont have the whammy bar in the bridge. i havent really used it and really wasnt planning on using it. ill give that a try and yes ill definately replace the nut.
Check this out as the base (rear edge) of the bridge needs to sit flat and flush on top of the body which means screws in front of saddles don't have to be screwed all the way home....

Thanks again Waz, i did what you mentioned and a couple of things on the vid. and wow it made a big difference, lovin the strat even more. never thought i could, haha
Good to hear Brokin.
Strat's have so many sounds available that it will keep you amused for quite some as you keep discovering more things it can do.
hey guys. jusy looking up some saddles for the strat. ive noticed that there are a few different types of saddles with different materials. e.g. brass, steel even found roller saddles. any idea what is good?
thanks again
Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/172106933126
would these be any good? they are the right size.
also i read the the fender forum there is a tusq nut and bone nut. any comments on what you guys recommend?
Hey Brokin, think it's worth buying a whole new bridge, helps to have a heavier block. Those saddles on ebay I can't even see a slot in them. I would recommend one of the top 5 bridges at Realparts around $50-60 I have used are pretty good
https://www.realparts.com.au/bridges...-st-style.html
with a nut you can't go past a well cut bone nut. You can buy pre-slotted ones but you really need a set of nut files to cut the slots a bit deeper.
sweet thanks again wokkaboy. I'll definately look into the link you sent. thanks again
i found a genuine fender bridge its a big block. so i think its what you mentioned and its about $90. so yeah happy with that
Unless it says it's a steel block, there's no guarantee that the Fender bridge will have one as they normally use cast zinc. But the first thing you need to do is measure the string spacing of your current bridge. US (and often Mexican) Strats use a string spacing that's about 2mm wider than most Asian-built Strats and replicas.
Personally I'd go for a Wilkinson bridge; steel block, traditional bent steel saddles, good trem. Remember that you need to get a 6-hole trem (often called 5+1 on that Realparts site) and not a 2-post one. Fitting a 2-post trem is best done from the outset as it involves a lot of extra re-work if your body is pre-drilled for a 6-hole bridge. Again, check the string spacing. You don't want your strings pulled out to the edges of your fretboard on the top frets.
I'm not a fan of the 'block' type saddles on the cheaper bridges as they are invariably alloy and not as good as steel blocks (which put the price up significantly), or Graphtec replacements.
thanks Simon, the downfall is the have nil stock of the Wilkinson 5+1 that would fit my guitar. i did find this on ebay.
Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/171975154382
what do you guys think?
the reason i thought before about just replacing the saddles is i have locked up the bridge now as per what Waz mentioned and im happy with it. i have order a bone nut so the bridge or saddles is the only thing left, i think. i wasmt planing on uaomg the tremolo as i do really know what you would use it for with a strat with a clean sound. could be wrong though
The 'import' spacing is typically 52.5mm, so only 52.5 or 54 mm (MIM) options will be viable for these kits.
yeah thanks Scott. yeah i found out how to check the bridge size as holy crap there are alot of options.
That's got a zinc or alloy block. That's something I'd be upgrading from, not to. Its string spacing is 2 1/16" or 52.4mm, so measure your bridge and see what its spacing is for comparison. You want the same, or slightly narrower spacing, I certainly wouldn't fit a bridge with a wider spacing.
After a bit more digging it seems there isn't a standard for US or Mexican trem spacings, but they do tend to vary between the smaller 2 1/16" and wider 2 7/32" (56mm) string spacing.
After checking, the Wilkinson WV6CR (along with similar Wilkinson trems) actually has a 54mm string spacing, so may be a bit wider than your current trem - so it may not be that suitable. Again, check against your current bridge. However the wider 5+1 screw hole design does mean that it fits a wide range of pre-drilled trem screw hole sizes. It's definitely worth measuring the overall locating screw spacing on your guitar as well. Whilst it's not impossible to fill and re-drill the screw holes, it's always best to avoid doing this if you can.
