Looks mighty fine to me Pabs!

nice job on the headstock veneer Pabs, what timber is it ?
Cheers guys. Woks, I think it's rosewood, certainly looks like it.
no worries Pabs, be careful when you drill out the tuner holes, I usually drill in reverse slowly going up from small bits to 9.5mm
Already done. I use a round needle file, it's a bit less brutal than a drill bit. :)
good one Pabs no worries sounds good
Change of mind. Heading in a fairly different direction now.
I really like the shade of green I had, but it just didn't suit this guitar for whatever reason and it wasn't sitting well with me. Flicking through google image search and I found this image.

Love at first sight. (BTW, apparently this is a converted SG standard)
So, this is one of my favourite combos. Black and tortoise. My first build (TL-1) was done like this and I got rid of that a while back, I think I'm ready to tackle the nightmare that is black paint again (talk to me again in a week or so...).

3 coats of primer down, sanded between each one and we are ready to move on to colour.
wow nice choice Pabs, I remember your black and tortoise tele won an early GOTM. Nice job on the primer looks nice and flat. Will you go a gloss clear ?
Cheers mate. Yeah, I want to do gloss, but we'll see how my patience holds up. Haha.
Damn, the black and tortoise shell does look great.
FWIW I kinda liked the incredible hulk look you had going.
Are you using a spray gun or rattle cans? It can be a lot easier to get a good lay down with a gun, which in turn means you'll be able to cut it back further and get a real mirror-like finish.
Hey SM, yeah the green was good, but after looking at it for a week or so I just couldn't go through with it.
I don't have a compressor at my house, so rattle cans. But good quality ones.
Hey Pabs, the black and tortoise shell will look great. And it will have a P90 so will sound great too.

Paint has gone on a treat. Hard to show in a photo, but it's dead flat and without flaw. If the clear goes on as well I'll be super chuffed.

Yep, the naughty stuff. Hahaha.
Nice work Pabs. A Tru Oil neck is hard to beat

Clear has gone on successfully. 3 wet coats, so not too heavy. No sags, nice and even, phew! Now we wait....
Now, some of you might be aware of my obsession with cool bridges. I love them.

This one is no exception. Graphtech Resomax Sonic 1. My first experience with wraparounds. Very sexy. Can't wait to test it out.
Unfortunately it's thrown up a small problem. The bushings are completely different to what was supplied.

About 2mm wider and about 10mm longer, so I'm gonna need to drill out the existing holes. Bugger. And before anyone suggests, I did check if the kit bushings would fit with the Graphtech posts. Nope, the thread is completely different and I do wanna stick with the better quality assembly. Fun times.
looking good Pabs and nice looking bridge.
Pabs looking good, you could always just use a Bigger hammer?
Hahaha. Yeah, I might stick with the drill idea.
I'd be reaching for the good ol' trusty hack-saw.
cheers, Mark.
Longer posts are definitely better. A much stronger anchor against string pull. Shorter posts can start to tip forward over time (especially in softer woods). Go get that drill. You might want to file, sand or cut away the paint around the holes before you enlarge them to stop the paint cracking and ruining the finish.
Great work restoring the headstock veneer! How blue did the air turn doing that?
Wicked looking bridge man
Been pretty quiet on this one while the clear cures, but back on it.
Right now, I'm mid polish stage.

Pretty shiny.
nice job Pabs should look a treat with hardware on. Will it be chrome hardware ? is the front as shiny as the back ?
All nickel hardware, and not quite yet. I had to stop yesterday because my arms stopped working after about 3 and a half hours. Should be able to finish it up tonight.
Hmm setting the bar high for the black finishes, that one is looking wonderful! Great work Pabs.
mate thats next level schinie! awesome
Wow, that gloss is unreal!!!
Cheers guys.
Just cut the final pickguard. Can't wait to finally see it all together.

Neck gluing tonight or tomorrow. Then wiring and setup. Might see this thing finished over the weekend! Exciting times.
it's going to look superb!
Such a shame to put a pickguard over that beautiful Finish.....
Awesome work. Black and tortoise shell just ryhmes.
