Well, aren't you a busy little bee. Where the hell did this one come from?
cheers Tony and Pabs
@ Pabs about 6pm Friday this axe was a 70mm square length of pine. Spent quite a few hours on it over the weekend, glued it up Friday night. Sanding it flat was the killer as some pieces moved a bit while the glue was drying.
It was all KB's fault he posted the pic from FB on Wednesday haha
@ Tony I won't be staining it, it will just be clear coated leaving it natural.
Excellent.
cheers Weirdy, thanks for the suggestion to rear route the control cavity
Hey Warren, looking good mate.
You can get a guitar built from scratch in the same time as it takes me to research what guitar to make next. What you need now is a fanned fret job and it will really spin people out when they look at it.
cheers Westie07 ! Not a bad idea with the fanned frets/multi scale.
Luckily I didn't have much else to do on the weekend so it freed a heap of hours to work on it.
I just ordered a black tele hardware upgrade for it
Dude, that is looking sick. I can't believe how quickly this has evolved, Is the Glue even properly dry yet?!?!?
haha cheers Frankie, the glue dried overnight Friday !
fair enough Frankie, think there has been some extreme weather over east. Ponch was telling me they had 4-5cm hail on the weekend and a piece of hail went straight through a gutter. He was smart and had his car undercover the the missus car got damaged by the hail !
It can get humid in Perth but not as often
I hope you are following the DB rule of sanding with the grain ;)
Haha cheers DK. It's a bit difficult when all the pieces are orientated differently.
Very cool Wokks. just shows how advanced your sills are to us mere mortals....Like Robin, I think i would only just be deciding on the kit by now.
wow wokks you took on that challenge pretty quickly, nice job mate
Great job Woks when you are given a challenge you get stuck right in and do it. Well done buddy.

cheers Andy, KB and Stan. I didn't get much done on the weekend I was concentrating on the JBA-4 build.
I just ordered rest of the black hardware I need, a black cup jack, black 3 way toggle switch and damn it Realparts were out of stock of the black neck pup surrounds. I ordered a chrome one but may have to wait for the black ones or chop up a black pickguard to a similar shape.
I got about half hour of sanding done on the weekend. I reckon about another 2 hours of sanding and should be ready for clear coats. We got a long weekend coming up in WA so woohooo !!
@ Andy where did you get the WOKA picture from ? pity it's not spelt with a double 'K' ! haha
Lol its the local Thai restaurant called "Woka Woka"
Thought you'd like it.
cheers Andy, I've been called that before too haha
almost cool enough for sanding but still 35ish so will need some IPA cleansing haha
Hey Woks, what's the update on this build?
Surely you've progressed some?!
cheers for the wind up Zandy. Matter of fact I did get some work done todaz, some sanding and a mock build. The neck pup surround was chrome and managed to paint it black
few more pics. Now the hardware is sorted a final sand and clear city !!
Nice Woks!! The black hardware looks good!
Those end grain patterns are just insane, nicely done Wokks.
That is savage Wokka, it is going to look MENTAL with some clear and polish!
That works really well!
cheers guys. I should have time this arvo to finish the sanding, get a logo on the headstock and get a coat of clear on !
Looking great, Woks. Though it still makes my eyes go funny looking too closely at it!
Hey Woks, top effort and all done in virtually next to no time at all. Black hardware looks good and can't wait to see how the grain comes to life with some clear coats done.
ok bit more progress this arvo, had Popeye sanding the body and I was sanding the neck. He talked me into a goldish stain and slightly darker edges. Here's some pics
some other angles of the back. Ended up recessing the control cavity. Have to cut a custom shape cover
looks superb Wokks, just had another look back at your clamping system, another wokks idea to file away...
cheers Stan. On the home stretch now. Ready for clear coats today is a public holiday in WA - woohoo
Looking good Woks and a result having a public holiday in WA today!
cheers Ponch. I reckon every Monday should be a public holiday. Can get so much more axe building and work around the house done !
as promised got 1st clear coat on, went on pretty well. Here's some pics
some pics of the neck and headstock. Happy how the project is trucking along !
Time to look at the jazz bass may be ready to start a fret level !
