I am not using the pickguard either, but i am going to wire it with a pushpull or S1 switch on the tone pot to give it 2 different circuits, may go a little silly on that tone pot.
I was going to have a pick guard, even made up a pattern for it but might save this for a Strat sometime in the futureAttachment 10214
I like the graphics on that.
