I might have to proxy this very page now DB.... Are they 2 piece fretboard blanks?
They are two piece fingerboards.
I am seriously lost for words DB they are beautiful and I bet those pics don't do it ANY justice!
Also what's the status on the DT?
wow DB what can I say, this is wood porn at it's best !
those two piece finger boards look amazing
Neck 99% done.
Dot inlays, check.
Polish fret board to 2500 grit W&D, check.
Speed humps...errr... Frets, check.
Initial fret level, check.
Carve neck profile and sand to 400grit, check.
Just needs bone nut, fret crown and finish applied...
I will let it sit in the workshop for a few days before I hit it with grain fillers and sealer.
Check out the sexy scarf joint :)
That's a tasty bit of work the sir !
Very very nice!
super slick joint there DB, very nice
nice work DB, you are pumping out some really nice necks bro
Today I grain filled and sanded with 320 grit.
Shhmoooooooth.
Then Mr Postman delivered a present!
My new fret crowning / polishing device arrived :)
The Thomas Ginex High- Speed Fret Crowning Tool....
Complete with two Guitar Picks!!!
I used it on Bari neck. Me Likey a Lot. Will do a proper thread very soon on this toy.
Then wax Fretboard...... Sigh...
Ready for sealer coats.
Then a pic of the LP body.
Coolangatta Gold and Nullarbor Ochre Sunbursty thingy..
nice one DB, so is the fret crowning tool just a grooved mesh style pad ? Or do you put the sandpaper in between the pad the the frets ? Interested to see it in action. Neck looks schweet.
That must be the junior that burst looks very nice
Sorry, was excited and neglected to explain how it works.
Level frets as normal, then place the abrasive paper grit side down on frets.
Then hold sheet and level thingy and run it up and down the neck... Like driving over multiple speed humps in an old Ford panel van :)
Change down grits and repeat.
Frets are perfectly crowned in less than five minutes....
NOTE. Final critique on this toy will be given after Guitar is completed.
Then I polish the frets with a Dremel and felt polishing widget...
wow that sounds cool DB, look forward to see how it works. I thought you would have to move the thingy sideways in the direction of the frets to crown them
looks like it works really well.
love the burst
on a roll there Ponch with your quick fire posts !
Yeah, quick draw skills learned on the standard issue Highway Patrol Colt Python !

DB. How is the conversion neck going?
It looked like a good start....
I will post a pic tomoz.
Got a coat of vynl sealer on it so now it just needs a few coats of Nitro..
Gav, I am re doing yours... I got some nicer Maple so I thought that you deserved a nicer neck :)
Will be routing truss slot, install truss, do the headstock and fretboard bitz tomorrow.......
Stay tuned for update pics :)
I have toyed with the idea of angling the string through setup..
Thinking that a straighter pull on the strings would give better sustain, no kinks in the strings has to be a good thing...
Yeah it does sound like a better idea to do that....
