I'd go with the first one, but both look great!

I actually prefer the second one across the top of the headstock, I think it's more balanced visually. But, if you want it to be seen and shown off while in the playing position then it makes sense to run it down the centre... although, I'd check how it looks with the tuners in place first.

If you go with the second option you can get a decal with a name for the guitar as well, kinda like the Les Paul headstocks!

A vote for across the top from me.

I'm going to be in the minority again and say along the headstock not across the top. If you had a different design for the decal I might think across the top is better, but I think along the headstock suits that design better.

this is looking very good indeed. Did you stain the neck as well or did you spray it? I am curious as I am about to start my hollow body bass and I am trying to decide on stain or spray paint? I really like your finish... It's going to look awesome.
