on an off cut .. will try..lol He could have been having a tall story on me.. but as you know, spalding is caused by fungi
good idea AJ, try it on a headstock offcut.
It may work AJ, only one way to find out !
Saw this in the Flesh today.
The picks do not quite pick up the colour hues in this build.
It is simply stunning. going through Mauve and Copper hues over the Red/orange base.
The gloss looks to be 10 foot deep.
It is such an amazing piece of work. Well done AJ.
Cheers PK
just so totally fantastic looking!!
Hnnnnng!
AJ, you have done it again.... :)
That is stupefyingly beautiful work, AJ. That's what many of us visualise, but few of us deliver. Just fabulous.
Ty for the great comments guys, There are quite few other builds going on atm that are just stunning!
Mad scientist time now.. for the test of fungi creating on wood. I have numbered 4 areas on a cut off piece of pine from my scratch build, will leave the areas for 1 day to 4 weeks in a cool dark spot.lets see what happens..
the yoghurt has been laid!

classic AJ, look forward to seeing the results. Did you use plain natural yoghurt ?
Did the guy at the wood show say the wood had to be any type or maple which it naturally occurs ?
Was it organic? ;)
lol, yep he didn't specify any particular wood, but he may of implied maple (so it may not have the desred effect on pine.:( but worth the try). And the yogurt is plain greek natural style, only plain one I could get in a small tub from the local shop.
I eat tons of natural yoghurt. It's great for gut health (Crohn's sufferer)
will be interested to see the results!
Been slowly chipping away at the neck now.. Tried my hand at doing a pearl inlay on the head stock.
The inlay sheet (veneer) I purchased was super thin and fairly sparse on "shell in it" so I removed it and just planted some wood veneer in the hole it left.. Should I keep it or sand back and just veneer the whole of it?
Neck back blended color to match body -finished ready for cut n polish

that looks great AJ, I'd leave it as it is. The inlay is subtle but looks cool
I kind of like the way the inlay looks AJ, subtle but still visible. It would be interesting to see how it looks with the tuners in place, not sure if it will highlight or hide it more with all the bling around it. The finish looks great.
Ok, will leave it as is then.
AJ,
Weirdy has a good point I'd put the tuners on and see if the inlay is highlighted or hidden, but sure it will look cool. So chrome bling for this baby ?
will be the chrome bling that came with the kit matey.. I tend to think it may stay subtle with the bling.. which is what I think will be a bit better than sticking out like a sore thumb.. A good learning curve for though.
yeah AJ once its all strung up and hardware on I think this will be a stunning axe
AJ, this guitar is going to look absolutely amazing. The finish on the body is perfection. Well done mate.
