thats why i chose to ditch the standard tele scratch plate, gave me more wood grain ..as i said some will love some wont its subjective, for me its an experiment and learning curve in how to appproach different styles, so this axe will have a few of them, later on with more builds, things will become more polished and slick, im not sold on the ideas just yet so will try more variations with the G10 i have left and go from there!Istill have to get the pocketing system perfect and have to do the practice run in the live stock! best have no fear and take as many chances as possible!That top knot is not very attractive in real life is a 3d stuffup something you dont see with a 2d photo so has to be covered like a shitty tattoo done while you where 16 and drunk !
so a few more ideas and layouts to come stay tuned!

Ok new design as promised ..I pref this look with the grain once its polished up will gleam like the chrome, so will make a new design for the controls and PUPs to see that as well,
I may actually stick with the flower design but on the headstock will check out how it looks once its scaled down to fit and then also cut the headstock, by buddy started havin a go at this head but abandoned it so it will get some love in my cave!

I think it's hard to go past your first inlay attempt in terms of a fit with the grain, but you have! That new design is fantastic! Some of the more experienced crowd may provide some advice, but if it's that bad, is it a case for some epoxy? Something that will fill it, but clear to highlight the character of the wood, but not provide a point of resonation that close to the neck.

yea it is bad..there is a piece of branch that is inside the knot that came out clean ..so I epoxied it back but still a massive hole that needs filling ..I will machine the hole out and fill it with the stock that the plug came out of, well near that corner anyway the grain is pretty close so thats the next Job really before I machine the pocket for the inlay

That new inlay is fantastic.

The pickup surrounds and channel cover plate you have going looks interesting. Gives it a different look, that personally I think is pretty cool.

Ok inlay went in and a few hairs went out! Turns out if you want to pocket a curved surface (without Knowledge) you need a 4th axis machine the size of a house! so all I did was center line the guitar on a long oak dowel rotate to make the surface i wanted to pocket sorta level and did a 2D pocket , unfortunatly this method make an even pocket depth on an a curved surface. Not what i was after..so back to school and try learn some new tricks, but pretty happy with the outcome anyway! had to smack the inlay in with a plastic interface and a light hammer! I cut the pocket exactly the same size as inlay and we all know that will never fit...so made a new toolpath to take .2mm off the walls and its match made in heaven!

ALRIGHT! The serpentine style inlay has much more attitude IMO 8-)

The whole deal makes me wanna build a CNC set-up to play with.
But I'm an old dog with a small workspace and probably a Luddite to boot, so sadly it won't happen.
I am getting lots of enjoyment watching your progress though, so please keep it coming.

now to get this hooked up to electricity ! has a nice acoustic sound, definatly has that thin sounding tele feel about it must be the curved surface throwing it or the bridge on the face with washers as shims! its light as its a thinline for sure couldnt get a Jackplug in the side even if i wanted to, But I had other ideas anyway..its going between the volume and tone, looks great, just use a right angled input jack! I may go for a stacked switchable humbuk if Im not happy with the drive!

I can imagine moving the tone forward and putting the jack at the back of the plate, but between sounds a bit bizarre. I'd even consider replacing the tone pot with the jack, as I've basically never used the tone control on my guitars over almost 30 years of playing. I use the volume control though and I have visions of the guitar chord getting the way. Can't wait to see pictures of it wired up so I can see how this config really works.

I like bizzare and different. it can fit at the back no worries but I put it in the middle just to be different, as I also just always crank knobs full and thats where they stay until I pull the plug,

they just standard wilkinson pickups

so the bigsby didnt like been tightened down on a slight arched surface..so made a neat little pocket with cnc, the surface is 100% flat everywhere! oh and the bigsby is still shit at keeping its tune teehee! so now to make some mods to the bridge as a next option to sorting the tuning
