Going for a satin clear? Not going to be easy to polish gloss clear with the 3-D relief.
Clear coats have been put on, rested for a week. I have also given the back a polish with Maquire's Ultimate compound and then Scratch 2x and let that rest for a few days.
Soldered together the volume and tone pots and the jack socket and added to the guitar. Added the bridge, neck, strap buttons.
I'm using a string bar (purchased online) rather than string trees since the strings splay out after the nut.
Today I have added strings and rough tuned.
Looking great.
Will you raise it to the top of the castle tower in a metal cage, flying a kite in a thunderstorm on a stormy night to finally bring it to life? I’m sure Frankie could lend you Igor for the occasion.
Nicely done Trev!
It won't be long now before you're playing like George Lynch.
Thanks Simon and McCreed.
@simon - "Will you raise it to the top of the castle tower in a metal cage, flying a kite in a thunderstorm on a stormy night to finally bring it to life? I’m sure Frankie could lend you Igor for the occasion." Ha ha, yes there should be a bringing to life ceremony. Maybe Halloween would be appropriate?
And, as far as playing like George - I wish that could be true! My playing motto is more like "I play guitar because I like it, not because I'm good at it."
Trevor that is awesome.
That’s got to be pretty damn close to expectations. Awesome.
Thank you vh2580 and Dozy.
Yep, I'm pretty happy with it. Once again, I have learnt lots along the way!
FWIW, my dogs are also showing great interest in it. Surely that's a good sign!
It lives!
Final setup is done - adjusted the truss rod, set the string heights, filed the nut slots, set the intonation.
Then we jammed out to AC/DC's RIP (rock in peace) and Judus Priest's Beyond the Realms of Death. Lots more appropriate song titles to follow.
Hurrah! Well done indeed.
Now you can create your own signature axe!
Thanks Simon.
Mmmmmh - my own signature axe!
