Wet sanded the body a couple of times now. Final spray coming when the rain stopshttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...323d814ad9.jpg

Stellar work bro. Anything prior or after the DT wax on the maple board, or is that it? I've only used it on rosewood boards myself. Used TruOil on the whole neck including maple board for the TeleMaster and that is still holding up great.
Hi BD. Just sanding up the grades on the fret board and edges from 240, 400 to 1200 grit. Then I get a tiny ball of dingo wax, heat it up in my fingers to make a paste, wipe on a cloth then apply to the fret board. Buff after 10 mins. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...776854fa61.jpg

Always happy to help out a forum mate...
I would but you know....up the ranges...so far away....

You can always wet sand now, if that helps. I always think that sanding would help the curing process and you give the finish as much larger surface area for the remaining solvents to escape from. It's just the final polish where you have to wait for a full cure as you need the surface as hard as possible.
Looks like I'll be doing just that Simon.
Ouch!! My guitar body had an unfortunate "lancing accident" whilst hanging up.
Lucky it's only the clearcoats

Nice. I like mint green.
Nice spray work Andy. Colour combination looking good. You’re really seeing the silver lining with the damage to the finish, keep the vibes positive!

Sad face [emoji24]
I'm guessing there was a broken coil wire already somewhere???
Or you were just really really bored and needed something to do...
He just needed to unwind.
Thanks guys! Simon, I just don't know how I would have made it through that without your wit. Lol.
Back on track here.
Tested positive. No pun intended.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...b84bc29fe2.jpg

Cleaning out the nut slot and found some weird Chinese metal thing. Could this be the secret to more sustain?????
I can't get it out!!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...4c13d38d31.jpg

The secret of why the nut doesn’t sit right. Why can’t they just put the placement pin a little bit further south?
I had those on my GSM-1and GSJ-1. As Fretworn says, It’s a pin used to keep the fretboard in place when it’s being glued and clamped. It’s not rocket science to put them where they don’t interfere with the nut. Just simple carelessness.
You can grind it away with a suitable Dremel bit, or you can mark the position on the nut and make a small cut-out for it so the nut sits level.
In theory you could use a small file to level it, but you are far more likely to make the slot floor uneven instead.
Badoom-tish!
Absolutely beautiful work Andy!! How long before it will be hard enough to polish do you think?
You guys are hilarious.
Thanks for figuring out the mystery for me.
@ Rodc - good question. I haven;t finished the final polishing yet as I wanted it strung up and played to check out a few kinks. Good news is that is mostly done now and she sings beautifully. Hoping I might have time this weekend to finish it all off and put up the glamour shots.
Looking forward to the photos Andy..👍
Anyone noticed how much thicker the neck is on the GST-1 compared to the ST-1? To the right is the ST-1 I built in 2915 , to the left the GST-1 built in 2020.
Pretty happy with the tones from the GST-1. Just got to get the nut height right. Final polish then glamour shots!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...e9c92048b6.jpg

That’s a huge difference in neck thickness. The one on the left doesn’t really look like a guitar neck..🤔😉
