True that, sorry had a bit of a brain f4rt mine is not a 421 but an MD427 which is sensational
I've got three MD421s. Used them for tom mics when the old band did big gigs. Great mics, even if the slide-on clip can be quite temperamental.
Yes that clip definitely catches you out. Located exactly at the point you intuitively reach to tilt it up or down.
Still, it's been the woodwind mike of choice for many years by the SNL T.V. program. Good for both recording and playing live with.
I also have the Shure SM58 tucked away as a back-up.
