In the past I've got the guys at Anagote - my favourite purveyor of wood stuff - to do it when I purchased timber. Now I've got a couple of pine blanks that I wish I could do easily.

Pabs put me onto this place that has industrial machines you hire for time. They teach you how to do it too.
I used their machine to plane and thickness the blanks, (yep Wokks 42mm). I was also taught how to do it too without losing a hand.:o
Wow - that is so cool. I'll have to find out if there's one near me!! And looking forward to the build - I'm guessing the "semi" part means you'll grab a neck rather than make one? Certainly makes it a lot simpler in my mind. I've built a couple of necks but never enjoyed the process the same way I enjoy the rest of the build.
AH Anagote. All of my Maple stock (Sadly depleted) and the Wenge and Beech I am working with came from them. Though the mahogany i got from Crescent Timber and Hardware.Quote:

They can be nerve wracking. It's the maintaining of flatness and squareness that always gives me the heeby jeebies. I'm fine with the laminating and the routing and even the scarf joints but the squareness and reducing the thicknesses causes palpitations.Quote:
