My mate gets to choose between another Squier bullet or a crafter strat. For the next one I intend to wind my own pups....that is ....after I make a winder....;)

Thx for the kind comments ponch, Hobie, Weirdy and Waz.
I really wanted to hear what hummers would sound like in a strat and with a trem. Its different, I'll give it that. I just find strats more comfortable to play.
I agree Ponch, the neck was pretty faultless for a 7 year old guitar.
Can we expect to hear you playing some Bon Jovi songs then?
you will love the bass Andy, and it's my first jazz bass too so I'm excited ! Have you got a bass amp to play it when yours is done ?
I played bass through a guitar amp for years and you really miss out on the full sound, plus it kills guitar amp speakers haha.
I did some micro mesh sanding on my body lastnight so about to finish that, mesh the neck, polish and assembly time !
Scored a day off woohoo
oh and Andy once you have played a fretted bass you will need a freless bass haha
That's it Woks! Then after the first fretted/fretless bass build you will have developed BAS!
Guitar amps and particularly speakers have a mid boost which is unkind to Bass Sounds. I played in a Bush Band for a few years and used a small Music Man combo for convenience and portability. Changed the 12" speaker out for a 15 but kept the hole the same size. Worked OK for that job. Eventually sold it for what I had paid....
