You don't have to put .011"s on - especially if you don't plan to play it much. 0.010"s should do. And it's your custom guitar, not a Rickenbacker, so you can do with it what you want. Basswood is a bit soft, but if it's solid wood, it would have enough strength to support a Bigsby trem as the metal frame spreads the loading.
Personally I'm not a fan of Bigsbys, so I'd say leave it off, but have a look at some pictures of Ricks with Bigbys fitted and make your own mind up about the looks.

Had a go at a burst. Never done it before. Quite surprised. Not perfect but I can have another go. Got the colours I want.

Made up my mind. No Bigsby. I use 9's and it would never be in tune.

I am so dead. I've stained the tablecloth red. Got my laptop covering it til I can think of a lie.

Oh dear. That is not a Good Thing. In fact it's a very Bad Thing.

Got first lot of staining done. Not 100% but a lot better than I expected. I have a tin of black spray gloss that I expected to use.

I see you've already sprayed half the kitchen tiles black! ;)
Not a bad first attempt at a stained sunburst.

Ta. I got away with the tablecloth. I promised I'd buy her a new one.

I did think for a while that we might have lost you there. ;)

Looking good. Worth the new tablecloth.

Thanks Pablo. Where is Brisvegas?
