its just pine. Paint away Chuck!
Hey Chuck looks excellent love the shape and the headstock !
Pine bodies is where my scratch builds started. Don't think it matters if you stain or go solid paint it should look great !
ah ok cheers Chuck, thought I had seen that headstock before !
so you using a rosewood or maple PBG neck for this one ?
Quick post, simply because the neck arrived today (thanks Adam!). I'm going with a reverse headstock look. You'll see some very rough sketching on the body that reveals the plan: a pair of humbuckers and a Jimmy Page wiring loom (thanks to Salo for revealing such a thing even existed as I'd never heard of it). Still unsure as to whether I'll make the pickguard encompass the pickups as well as the controls but we'll see...

I'm after a bit of advice on pickups for this one. As above, I'm looking at a pair of humbuckers and using a Jimmy Page harness for them. I'm after a more bluesy kind of tone, and something pretty versatile. In the Tonerider range I'm thinking either Rocksongs or AC4s. Would that be a good option (and what's the difference) or are there others I should look at?
The AC4s are certainly on the hot side. Very difficult to get a clean sound from them without turning the guitar volume control right down. So if you never actually play clean and want your amp input pushed hard, then they're fine. Otherwise in the Tonerider range I'd go for the Alnico II (labelled AC2 in the PB shop) or the hotter Rocksong. The AC2 is the most like an old PAF, the Rocksong is an overwound variant on it. An AC2 in the neck and a Rocksong in the bridge would be similar to the classic Seymour Duncan '59/JB combination.
