If you build a good wiring harness that holds its shape (build it on a piece of cardboard with holes poked through in the correct places), on the 335-alike kits you often only need to pull the jack socket through on a piece of string or strong cotton. The rest you can normally simply manipulate into place and push up through the holes with your fingers and maybe some tweezers through the holes.
