Sort of a Lavender/Mauve colour form that shot?
Looking good Chuck. What do you use as the top finish with the MTN spray?

Yep. When I first ordered the paint I thought it would be a pretty straightforward purple, but at this point it does look a bit lavender!! I still think it'll work out okay once all the bits are in place (white pickguard, silver control panels for knobs and switches, and a non-standard bridge - a bit more like the Jaguar tremolo one - that's also a decent slab of silver) and it's glossed up. Although my wife did say it looks a bit Germaine Greer at the moment... for those of us old enough to understand that jibe!Quote:

The colour coats are now sorted. I did two more since the last post, so one key coat and three double headers. I've lightly buffed it back with 800 and it's nice and smooth - so on to the joys of gloss coats!
Just for fun I put the components roughly on top to see how it would look - I'll be making a completely new pickguard as the middle pickup needs to be slightly further back than the existing pickguard allows so that all three are equally spaced, let alone the rounding off of the lower horn. I quite like the starkness of the white, so instead of doing a very light stain on the neck to "age" it, I'm thinking of just going with some tru-oil. It'll loose a little of the whiteness but not too much...
You can also see the different bridge I've grabbed for it - do you think it works or should I just go with the standard jazz version? I got it to replicate the look of the tremolo bridge on the Bass VI, which it kinda does but I'm not sure!

looking good Chuck, the white and purple work well together. Maybe if you can please post a pic with the other bridge so we can see how it looks. Cool idea with the 3 pups !

I dig that colour, I started painting a 57 Chev that colour then sold it mid restoration
