Hey Tony thanks for your idea of the dowelling to support the necks, I built this rack yesterday for a friend. They wanted to put 2 acoustic guitars in the rack, the rest electric. They asked for the rack to hold 8 guitars and I have managed to fit 10 electrics and 2 acoustics in the 1200mm length for future GAS haha

When I bought the materials I only planned to have enough dowelling for total of 8 guitars, so I ran out.
I used the K-Flex rubber tube insulation to cover the bottom rack lengths and also over the dowelling.
I recommend anyone with about 10 guitars or more to build a rack. Materials for this cost about $80 and that includes 2 cans of black paint I will paint it once I've finished the dowelling. Took about 5 hours to get this far

Looks good! I reckon i'm going to need to build one too... my 3 guitars rack is full and i've got 2x guitars in construction ;-)
What diameter of dowelling did you use?

Hi Fred, cheers mate. The bottom rails are 40 x 30mm pine and I had to round the edges and used 1.5" Kflex on that.
The dowels are 16mm diameter and the 1/2 inch kflex fit over that nice and tight. I used a 16mm spade drill in the drill press then glued 100mm lengths of dowel into the 70x30mm pine backboard.
How many guitars are in your collection mate ? would love to see a couple of pics of your collection

Hey cool Woks looks great. Now all we need is a parts list and dimensions lol. You either need a bigger room or more racks for all your guitars to Woks.

happy to scan a sketch with dimensions and a parts list if anyone wants it

Your going to need an extension woks for that and the brewery lol. When you get time the parts list and dimensions would be great no hurry Woks.
