A Squier CV Mahogany Thinline is now around the $1K mark here in Oz and the Ash around $800 so not all that cheap.
I've got a Mahogany one and it's great but I go plan a pickup upgrade to open it up a little
A thousand dollars for a Squier?!?! Whoa, it would want to be good then. I had no idea.
One of our local music store had the cheapest street price I could find in Oz a few years back and it was $580 in a gig bag, I got mine in Kuta for $500 in a hard case. ( Wira's Music )
When I looked at the local store site a couple of months ago the Mahogany one was just shy of a gorilla and now they don't even list it just the Ash one.
At the time I was looking for a CV Custom, double bound, sunburst, rosewood board that looked close to a twin of the 59 tele I once owned.
In the shop in Kuta they only had an Avril Lavigne and the Thinline and once I had played it there was no doubt it was going to be coming home with me.
I went to the same shop again in early 2015 and they had a much better range but still no CV Custom, I hope I don't see one in Hawaii this month or I'll really be in big trouble
Finally got around to re-finishing this beast, I used Duplicolor auto paint, first time using it and if this experience was anything to go buy it'll be all I ever use from now on. It stuck like glue to the slightly roughed up original finish and cured rock hard, I never even ended up clearing it .... just cut and polish.
We had some brutal weather over the weekend so the 100watt amp got turned up to 10 and the jag got a serious workout.
beyond happy with this!!!!!!

That looks killer. Huge improvement.
wow great job, the colour is perfect
Yes agree, top refinish and a much less garish than the original colour.

As nice as this felt to play, it was missing 'something'
Turns out what it was missing was a set of Seymour Duncan Vintage Jaguar pickups! and a new pickguard.... because we all know that the better it looks the better it sounds ;)

It's a lot more well rounded sounding now, very 'classic' still bright with some of that Fender plink but no where near as harsh and trebbly as the stockies.... happy days!
