Just looking at it with that centre pick guard/switch cover issue, is the intention that the PUP Ring is supposed to butt edge up to that and therefore cover the exposed gap?
Yep, check the centre guard with your intended pup rings in place before taking action. Good luck with the build.
Thanks for the votes of confidence guys.
@Weirdy and Frankenwashie, you are both correctamundo....except the top corner screw of the neck humbucker rings fall in the gap :(
I was thinking of using an off cut of maple from the headstock (or basswood from one of the cavities) and glueing it on in order to drill the screw hole. Any untidiness will be covered by the humbucker ring.
Headstock Shaping
I am a traditionalist and much prefer the classic Gibson dove wing headstock. Went outside my comfort zone and created my own.

Simple design that works and looks good too.
Second Mock Build
I now prefer to do all modifications drilling etc before I start the finish.
Headstocks drilled for PBG standard tuners

humbucker routs widened

Humbucker rings fitted and pickguards fitted as well. As it turns out there was enough room to drill for the neck humbucker rings and I didn't need to fill the control rout gaps. (working man's lunch - its not turkish meal!)

Bolt on neck drilled and attached, straps locks fitted and checked. Note: the neck strap lock on the gibson and Epiphone is usually located behind the necks which cant be done with the PBG kits as the bolt on plate is there - so it needs to be placed between the two necks (carefully so that you don't drill through to the control cavity.

Opps I forgot to mention the scale length is identical for the 6 and 12 string (Yaaay) 628mm to the bridge and 312mm to the 12th fret.

Looking good. I have seen strap buttons drilled through the neck plate before but between both necks should give it more balance however as the top one being slightly longer and heavier it will want to make everything point south.
