Hey Andrew, presume you mean the Dingotone arrived ? You will enjoy the sanding just take your time
Dingotone (black stump for body, clear for neck), sandpaper, tone cap/resistor and 0000 steel wool.
Started sanding on the weekend and decided a little subtle body shaping was in order, just rounding some edges as the pbg-1 body is quite boxy shaped. Also shaped the headstock to follow similar lines to the body. I will have to take some photos soon.
I was reading on the forum that Timbermate Ebony can be used to bring out the wood grain. I checked at my local hardware store and they don't stock it, does anyone know somewhere online I can order it from?
Hi Andrew, looks great the headstock and body shaping mods.
Do you have a Bunnings or Masters in Broken Hill should sell Timbermate
I would just buy the natural Timbermate, scoop a little bit out and add a few drops of the DT Black Stump stain..
Having said that, Basswood doesnt really have much of a figure to pop and any popping may get lost under the Black Stump.
No Bunnings or Masters here Wok. We have a Home Hardware or a True Value Hardware and they both have limited stock. Nearest Bunnings is Mildura, 3 hours drive, probably not worth it for this guitar, but will have to pick some up next time we are in town for my next guitar project ;)
Thanks Dingo, I did wonder how it would go, but thought it was worth an experiment. May have to try it on my next guitar project. Is it bad that I've only just begun this guitar and I'm already planning the next two?
