I'm assuming that because the epoxy isn't a string anchor point it won't have a significant effect, except maybe making the guitar heavier. (I understand the aforementioned epoxy guitars are back-breakers.)Quote:

I've got 5 coats of acrylic primer on the body, it took quite a long time to get the surface just right, lots of filling and sanding.
I have also decided on a finish concept, and it will be based on my favourite car of all time, the Ford Daytona race car. There will be quite a bit of work to get the pin striping etc just right, so I don't expect this build will be done much before Christmas.

Looking awesome moose. The pickup cavity change was well worth the effoty IMO - great job! Your plan for the paint job is also great. Can't wait to see this one come together.

Hey Moose, you might want to clear out any filler and paint on the inside of the neck joint, it might mess up the fit a bit, test it now and it if still fits nice and straight, just tape it off for the next coats, if not you will need to sand it out of the rout.
It's hard to tell from the photo but the neck cavity is fully masked off, up to a point 1mm from the turn at the top face of the body. While I did use filler to square up the rout, I used a micro-file to ensure the sides and face were perfectly clean.
The tape runs fore-aft, except the final strip, which runs side-side to give me a perfect edge at the heel.
